This article came out today with Dell announcing dual dual-core Xeon processor servers for $2,500. That includes Ultra 3 SCSI, so it could even be cheaper with SATA.
If Apple had made the switch and started offering computers today, I think this is relative to what we may find when they're released in 2006/2007.
$2,500 for a "quad" processor computer. Though, AMD's goes up to 8 dual-core processors.
Sounds yummy.
