I've been looking to by a particular camera for about a month now on eBay, and I'm consistently snipe outbid by money grubbing stores looking to resell the camera at a higher price. It's so annoying! I feel like writing the sellers and telling them, "you just sold your camera to people who won't even use it."

I really want this old Nikon from the early 80's with manual focus, because after all my research I decided that's the one I'd like to have. But every time the black model of this camera comes up for sale, these stores come in and out gun my budget, and it's never some user who doesn't resell them the next month. We all get outbid at the last second, or early on if they're feeling brazen.

What can I do?

Snipe bid yourself is all that you can do to compete with being sniped.

If you are willing to pay more bid more, if you are not perhaps just go elsewhere?

True, I could bid more. But the camera isn't worth more. It just so happens that two stores have decided to buy inventory at precisely the time I'm looking for a camera.

The major problem is that in a store the markup for this camera is usually $100 more than the average price on ebay. So, these stores are bidding over what it's worth just to resell at profit. They weren't doing this a month ago.

How do I know they're bidding more than it's worth? Because I've seen the camera for sale for a couple of years now.

Maybe they'll stop, but I'm getting impatient.

And I tried to snipe, but they're willing to pay more than it's worth, and I'm not. I guess I'm cheap!

Worth a shot. I'm looking for an FE2, preferably with a 28 f2.8 AI lens. I was thinking about KEH, but their "bargains" might mean a camera that hasn't got too much life left in it.

Faulty logic.

Apparently, the camera *IS* worth more to many.
You might have to adjust your preceived 'fair price' level.

But it's a bubble - it's only got inflated value because a few people are willing to pay that price in stores, not on ebay. The sale price when stores aren't bidding is about %30 lower. I'm just going to have to take a break from looking and hope for serendipity.
