Perhaps they should just make a mini-series every now and then. Release one every few months or so.
New ships, new crews. Always different. It'd be fun to see the "famous" battles from a different points of view. Wolf 359, the Dominion Wars, the first scene in First Contact.

Or maybe they should just get better writing. The writing for much of the Enterprise series really did suck.
I don't really care anymore though, now that Battlestar Galactica is out.
BTW, I still say the best overall show was the original. While some of it seems dated now, and some of the episodes truly sucked, that show's writing was certainly ahead of its time overall, and some of the episodes from back then have never been matched by any episode from any subsequent Star Trek series. And there was no Wesley Crusher either.

I think they need to fire everyone who ever worked on the show and try something totally new.
I mean how many hour long shows can you watch of some new set, new crew fight the borg and then blow up at the end of each episode.
I loved Star Trek, it was my absolute fav. Enterprise ruined it for me and like Eug since BSG came out I don't care if they ever come out with another second of Star Trek.

I have an idea for a new Star Trek series:
Seven of Nine, Jadzia Dax and T'Pol have a serious disagreement (over the correct tolerance of the plasma flow or something). According to the laws of some planet or other they have to fight out the disagreement in the ceremonial jello pool. Every week. Garak umpires the fight and interjects with the occasional enlightening (but sneaky) wisdom.

Well, the sad part is they kinda already tried it in Enterprise. They had those stupid rubbing-stuff-on-T'Pol scenes. I mean it was nice because it was T'Pol but really, those scenes were just dumb.

Agreed. Star Trek really went downhill. Unfortunately, they stopped being creative. They wrote the same show over again with different characters. it really sucked when the Borg turned into a bunch of Pansies in Voyager.
All that aside, I like your idea. I don't think it should be brought back to things that have already happened though. I think you ought to have separate mini-series to watch the evolution of one plot from different angles.
Start out with Federation, follow the story of a crew as they go to Romulus to negotiate something. that's 2-4 episodes. Then switch perspective to Romulans, tell the next piece of that story from their side. Then the final 2-4 in the series will come from the Klingon side. Or the Cardassian side, or whatever.

Ya watching Enterprise now I see how forced some of the content is. Archer saying in the pilot "i'll knock you on your ass". The decontamination chambers that have to be done Unixex in underwear, "zippers", massaging T'pol etc.
On BSG everything seems natural. They use nukes and bullets, sleep around and don't have photon Torpedoes, deflector dishes or play Universe police teaching everyone how great humans are and to follow our ideals. Star Trek has turned into the Sunday morning school of Sci-Fi.

Star Trek has too deep a penetration into pop culture for it to ever go away entirely. I agree with the sentiment that it needs to take a break for a while. Long enough for the people who have had the Star Trek reigns to move on with their careers and away from Star Trek, opening spots for more innovative and inventive writers to come in.
Depending on who you talk to, Star Trek as a whole is a writer's dream. The depth that has gone into the creation of the Star Trek universe over 40 years by countless thousands of people leaves a lot of room for imaginative writing. This is how I know Star Trek will come back in time, and will probably be better than it ever was.

Well, to be fair, I think Battlestar Galactica also has a lot of "well, it's a TV show" moments. Still beats the snot out of Enterprise and Voyager though.

Yeah, like that electromagnetic pulse thing that deactivated missles and fooled the Cylons that were attacking the prez's ship in the series pilot. Very disappointing. Fortunately they've moved away from that sort of thing for most of the series.

I am a Star Trek fan…I really am. I even liked TNG.
But. It's. Over.
And it should stay over.

Ya but dr who waited a million years and came back campy. I always thought Enterprise should be campy with Enterprise, they did a couple times with T'pol's uniform.

They could have "Guest Directors" for each mini series.
Can you imagine if Ridley Scott made a Star Trek min series? That'd kick ass.

look star trek comes and goes, it usually has horrible ratings despite all the fans, and therefore gets cancelled but comes back on when some hotshot director decides its time for another series.

The quality of the writing used to be so much stronger and moving when hollywood couldn't fill a show with special effects as they do now.
Back then the story and the acting had to carry the show, not millions spent on CG annimations.
PS.......
Keep Berman and Bragga away from any new Star Treks. Those two killed Star Trek.

What about having the three ladies kick the crap out of Simon from American Idol? Talk about a crossover audience!
