I was going to start a thread about surpassing 2000 posts, but I knew it would get locked.
So I'll start a thread about the movie. Pretty good, eh? I've seen it before. Maybe I should watch it again.
Congrats, and enjoy!
oh, and you can do anything you like in this thread. except poop in it.

Sup man, meant to ask you in the other thread if you were watching the Discovery Channel Top Gear or the unedited UK version? If want info on the UK version let me know. The DC version just ain't the same.

I watch it on Discovery and on Speed Channel.
I forget which one has which ( Top Gear/Fifth Gear)
What's the difference between edits of Top Gear?

It would be funny if the mods subtract 100 posts or so for creating this garbage.

Top Gear is on Discovery Channel. Fifth Gear is on Speed Channel. Both are edited versions of the UK versions.
The UK versions are more humorous and they talk a lot of sh*t about the cars they don't like. PM me and I'll tell you how to get the UK versions.

UK "Top Gear" is clearly the better of the two. Someone on another forum was part of the audience for the last series, and Clarkson was walking around complaining about how they have to do everything twice to alter it for the US audience.

I did an interactive CD rom project in Flash MX two semesters ago. It was on Kubrick, and I included video samples from 5 of his movies (7 clips for each movie).
2001 is my fav. Kubrick film. Space done right

In addition to the human excrement it seems a stray dog has wandered into this thread and...well...take a look for yourselves:

I dunno - did you just lose a hundred posts for posting it?

Anybody knows WHY the Americans want an edited version ?

you must be if you've bought "top gear" - used to be quite a good motoring programme. has now turned into a painfully embarrassing vehicle [pun intended!] for jeremy clarkson's gigantic ego to be massaged by a retarded studio audience, while his psycophantic midget acolyte [richard hammond] gazes at his comedy master in adoration.

Aww, come on. Top Gear is soooo funny. Sure you have to put up with Jeremy's ego but that makes it even more fun.

The American *producers* want an altered version to make room for commercials (meaning no News and no Interview/Star In A Reasonably Priced Car segments IIRC, the two funnest parts of the show), and to make it more relateable to US audiences: prices in $, miles per gallon, etc. Like I said, I haven't seen the US version since I don't get that channel, and wouldn't watch it anyway.

I only caught onto it a year or so ago thanks to the miracle of BitTorrent, so I have never seen any other version. It's what it is: opinionated entertainment about cars. If I wanted pure information about a car purchase (something I'm unlikely to do for quite some time) I'd just buy a copy of "Consumer's Reports."
And Hamster's not exactly in adoration of Clarkson by any means, the two always spar off.

It's all about the cinematography for me. They actually make you want to buy the cars they review. I don't get that feeling from other car shows.
