Here's the article for PC Magazine's top 100 products of 2005.

Microsoft's superior, professional-grade software actually made the list at number 48 with Windows Media Player 10.

Unfortunately, Apple's crummy products only made the list 5 times, including the number 3 spot with Apple's crash-prone and technically inferior OS, Mac OS X 10.4 "Tiger."

I guess James showed us again.

yeah, a lot of those things weren't released in 2005... they existed in 2005, but that shouldn't count. plus, there's still 2 months left in the year.

Gmail is so crap, why would anybody want an email service that scans through all your messages in order to deluge you with advertisements, and doesn't allow you to organise your messages into folders?

Very happy that Mac OS X Tiger came in as number three, quit an accomplishment.

Don't say that! We don't want Apple to quit accomplishing.

Hmm...Mac OS X #3 on the list on a site that can't even spell "iPod" and "iTunes" correctly. BIG accomplishment for a site full of PC-heads!!!

Maybe you're thinking of some other gmail... google's doesn't "deluge" you in ads (it's a discreet sidebar), and it has something comparable to folders: labels. The whole idea is "search, don't sort" (quote from the gmail login page).

Combined with the fact that gmail has far and away the most responsive and interactive webmail available, it makes a darned good service?

Don't like it? Don't use it. But don't go bashing it just cuz it's not what you expect it to be.
