With a 8.7 percent stake, you can hardly speak of "part of Toyota".

Sweet. The good news in that link is that GM is basically selling their stake in subaru. Hooray!

GM is scrambling for cash, as it gets ready for another S&P downgrade in its' stock rating.
Edit to add:
http://www.freep.com/money/autonews/suv5e_20051005.htm

Also citing declining SUV sales Tuesday, the credit-rating agency Standard & Poor's said it is reviewing GM and Ford operations and will decide by mid-January whether to move their credit ratings lower in junk status.

Standard & Poor's downgraded Ford and GM to a speculative-grade, or junk, investment in May. The downgrades signaled that the companies face an adverse business climate that makes them more likely to default on their loans.

Subject really should read more like "Toyota Owns Part of Subaru"...

Wonder how much of Subaru tech will make its way into Toyotas?

Your graphic is partially incorrect--Lotus is owned by a Maylasian firm called Proton, Rover/MG is under majority control by a Chinese firm (SAIC I think?), Porsche now has a 20% stake in VW, and DCX recently significantly reduced their stake in Mitsu.

God forbid if Toyota owns Subaru. If it happens you can expect the pussification of the Subaru lineup much like Toyota's current one (considering that the Matrix is now their flagship performance vehicle*). It's bad enough they canned the Celica and MR2-Spyder, which were both far outcries from the All-Trac, S/C MR2, and Supra TT of the past.

* I know about the IS, but that is not a Toyota brand as it is in Japan.

As of August 30, Lexus started selling in Japan, including the IS.

They have already started and already own more than 10% of it.

Best news in that article is the last sentence:
GM shares were up 30 cents, or 1.00 percent, at $30.38 in opening trade on the New York Stock Exchange.
Maybe I will get some profit sharing payout this year after all.

I wouldn't worry about it. GM tried to force subaru to use their shitty GM Kilbified engines, but subie was fairly blunt about how they were going to do their own thing and that was that. No worries.

Acura IS Honda-just like Lexus is Toyota and Infiniti is Nissan. Or for that matter it's the same as Lincoln and Mercury being part of Ford.

By the way, GM selling their 8.7% stake in Fuji Heavy Industries (the parent of Subaru) to Toyota will make Toyota the top share holder in FHI-which means that Toyota already seems to have had some stake in FHI. Further, GM is still working on selling another 11.4% stake in FHI to completely dissolve their partnership. There's an AP story by Dee-Ann Durbin in my local paper about the deal.

This distributed ownership issue probably means that the only thing that will change at FHI is the letterhead-not Subaru's designers, not their product line, and probably nothing else.

Because that's what you do to me. You post random insults about me in tons of my threads, I thought I'd return the favor. In fact, I even used the exact same response on you, which you ignored. I suggested you start a Ca$h-fan-club since you can't stop thinking about me.

Ignored? Maybe I just didn't see it. Remember, you're the one with the obsession of another guy, not me. I think you've proven this quite well here.

Uh, yeah. That's why you post in all my threads. You're so full of **** this whole thread is stinky now. You always attack me when I'm not saying **** to you. Here's an example:

http://forums.macnn.com/showthread.p...;highlight=hat

You do **** like that all the time, so don't even pretend for a second that you aren't the one with an obsession. Hell, I'm glad I don't live near you because you'd probably be outside my windows staring longingly at me.

STOP RIGHT NOW. YOU are the one who keeps changing nicks all the time-because you tick people off and get banned so frequently. And you keep coming back because you don't get the hint that this kind of behavior is out of bounds. It is completely unacceptable to behave this way ON THESE FORUMS.

The thread you linked to does nothing to prove your point. Railroader's response looks like a random "I really don't care for the subject" sort of comment-I personally think adult people who are so into gaming that they wear this sort of atire are odd to say the least-that was not in the least bit insulting in context.

As I said, STOP IT RIGHT NOW.

If you'd notice he edited his response, because it originally said "yeah that was probably a cool hat for anybody who hasn't gotten their curly hairs', inferring that anyone who's gone through puberty wouldn't like it.

So yeah, sorry GHPorter, you don't konw what you're talking about. Kilbey posts **** to piss me off all the time. If you'd prefer another example I'm positive I could find one.

I've taken a look at a lot of your posts, and the various responses you've elicited. You CHOOSE to be troubled by these replies-often because your posts appear to be intentionally irritating, and because you goad other people rather childishly. It comes down to your behavior seeming very immature, and your name calling and getting upset by other people's posts seems to confirm that.

Posting weirdness on these forums because you can't physically stomp your feet and scream just isn't going to help you. Learn to deal with people who disagree with you, learn to deal with people who do not like your ideas or your interests; that's how we become functional in this society.

No. I want you to stop poking at people and to behave like an adult here. We have very young member who behave more like adults than you do. Your "see this-it's another example of how he hates me" gets old when gradeschool kids do it; it's not appropriate here.

If you don't poke at him, and ignore things that seem to bother you in what he posts, you will find that you are behaving "like an adult." It's the future-get with it.
