Apple does not make asymetrical products. When held in the hand this would be asymetrical, thus going against Apple's core principle of industrial design.

If they release that, they're writing off 16.8 % of the market out of the chute. I think that's the percentage of left-handers, last I saw a statistic on it, anyway.
edit: There was another bad fake similar to that posted over on AI earlier today.
My prediction: What we'll actually see next week:
1. Video downloads (think short, like music videos) from ITMS.
2. Some sort of re-vamped airport express-like object to stream these (wirelessly? I dunno) to your television, maybe from an upgraded iPod, but probably not.
3. Not announced at the event, but probably added to the Apple store, upgraded Power Macs, but people will be dissapointed when the low-end and middle-of-the-line machines are dual-core, but not dual-duals.
4. Vague possibility: Apple Movie Store, with downloadable hollywoood flicks. I'm < 5% on that one.
I'm totally talking out of my ass, just to see how right or wrong I'll be in retrospect.

That was based entirely on the red curtains. I know nothing. (Maybe I should start a rumor site. Yeah... I'll call it... hmmm... lets see. I've got it! MOSR!)

The regular ipod excludes lefties also, because the instinctive response is to spin the wheel the opposite direction so up is down and down is up.

Not entirely true. I'm left-handed, and am pretty well used to the world wanting things to go clockwise. In fact, it's never occurred to me to want the thing to turn another way. And you certainly don't have to reach across the screen to use one.

if it was laid out like that, how hard would it really be (software wise) to have the whole unit flippable? (screen, controls...)
that doesn't seem all that improbable.

This has to be coming one day. If/when they release a video-enabled Airport express I will buy one. Must have a simple way to do things like showing Keynote, Powerpoint, iPhoto slideshows on the TV screen, while leaving your computer screen 'as is'. As well as Quicktime movies, of course.

Ooooo so many things to think of. A video iPod would be cool, maybe a revamped iPod of some sort. All I know is that my Birthday is on the 21st, so maybe I should buy myself something fun.

Ok, there is no BBC 6, its BBC 6 Music.
This may be correct, the BBC have been talking a lot recently about simulcasting shows over the internet, Apple could provide a nice distribution front end to this, charging non-license payers a minimal fee and streaming for free to license payers.
This adds weight to the Airport Express update that we are speculating on at the minute and provides content for a Video iPod whose only drawback at the minute is lack of content. (and maybe a small screen).
If they introduce a set top box that will stream BBC tv shows wirelessly and docks with a video iPod Apple have their killer app.
I'm still not convinced about any of it though. I'm just looking forward to next tuesday.

I totally agree with that. dosent make sence and isnt a very 'elegant' solution to the problem.
