CAN CAUSE DISTRESS TO SOME MACNN READERS (WELL MOST I THINK)*****
http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2...70360,,00.html
This is an article from one of the national tabloids here in the UK called "The Sun". It shows a 6 month old dalmatian puppy being strung up by some blue rope on a tree and left to hang there.
In short this kind of activity by vile scum makes me sick... I am ashamed to be a human being. I have been ever so fortunate to grow up with 5 dogs, this included 3 generations of dalmatians... and as biased as this sounds they are the most loving, attentive, good natured dogs I have known, all I can think about in the last few minutes of it's life was the way it was wagging it's tail... being so pleased to be with people (although maybe it was petrified, but it would not surprise me that they "tricked" the puppy into thinking it was playing with them) and all the time it was being led to it's death. I realise all dogs are beautiful in their own way, but there is something so special about the dalmatian breed... but needless to say I would still have cried last night (no, I am not ashamed of crying at 35 years of age) no matter what breed of dog was hanging from that tree. The RSPCA are currently campaigning for much tougher laws for the inhumane filth who do such cruelty to animals... i contribute every month out of my salary but it's still not enough until we get a law in place that deals with these people properly and serves as deterrent.
There are people who may think differently but the UK is going downhill fast - so many factors, but even though a few Americans or other nationalities might view our country as a laughing stock this WAS once a great country. I am truly sickened at the state of our society here... is it just us or is it happening to you guys [USA] as well???
Am so sorry for the semi-rant but I don't even feel like eating after hearing about this on the news last night... and yeah, there are many wars going on in our world and the tsunami tragedy, hurricane katrina and now the earthquakes in Pakistan... but those are natural disasters... we don't need mindless scum doing this to animals when we could all contribute to this planet in a more positive way. I'm not religious, but at times I really DO hope there is a hell to deal with people like this after their time on this Earth is up.
Take care all and I know there are many good ppl here - but at times it seems we are outnumbered by evil.

You'll find this kind of depravity in all aspects of society. No nation has a monopoly on evil or on good.

Its just a stupid dog.
But it is a crime. Find the guy and put him on trial. He pays whatever debt he owes society and that's the end of the story. While you wait for that to happen: put on your white knickers jump on your pony and take the dogs out to hunt down a fox. I hear that's still considered civilized out there.
IBYDC and her inane batcrazy WT rant. Here I will start it out:Dogs are like children blah blah blah

Thing is Captain, fox hunting got banned earlier in the year and myself and 90% of the country were very happy about that.
And no, I've never found it civilised at all...
BTW, for you to say it's "just a stupid dog" that's either a very lame attempt at trolling or you have never had the joy and privilege of owning a dog... come back all you like... do it all day long Captain... I'll let other people here judge you by your response (but that's where you're not fussed about how people judge you right? And you have no need to come back I'm sure). Blah, blah yadda, yadda...

No, its a way of saying its just a stupid dog don't shove a pole up your own @ss by making it some huge deal.
The idiocy of repeated comments in here like: "my dog is my child" "we created (no you didn't by the way) dogs and now we are responsible for them" and "all dogs are beautiful in their own way" are quite pathetic. I am not sure how many people in here are shut ins, lonely homemakers ignored by their spouses, or are just socially inept individuals who should get out more but a dog is just an animal. It is not a person. It is not a child. It does not love you because you are you. It has about the same intelligence as a pig and I doubt you freak out like this when you see a ham sandwich.
Just because you have formed some over attachment to your pet does not mean it is special.
Someone killed a puppy. Boo hoo. Too bad there aren't millions of other ones running around to replace it.
I just had the BEST idea, someone call J Crew quick: http://www.vintagevoola.com/womens/w0122/w0122.jpg

agree with you there. i've been saying this for years - england/britain is going to hell in a handcart. you could have posted links to a thousand "horror stories" that have been in the news over the past couple of years, involving all manner of bestial activity carried out by the ever increasing tide of scum with which this country seems to be awash of late.
and... loathe tho' i am to respond to trolling:
captain obvious - one of the reasons people get so upset about things like this is because of the fact that an animal is a helpless victim, at the mercy of someone it probably trusted, or thought of as a protector. it's a similar scenario and hence the same kind of revulsion that people feel when such crimes are commited against children, women or old people.
and you should realise that not everyone who professes a love of animals is some soppy old bint spoon-feeding a ribbon-bedecked perfumed lapdog and fawning over it incessantly. a lot us just consider our pets as another member of the family and feel a sense of responsibility and protectiveness towards them like we do the rest of our folks.
i also happen to believe that we owe a debt of care towards animals, seeing as how we [as a species] seem to have done our best to completely **** over their habitats and breed out of them any capability they have left to fend for themselves. we've forced them to survive on our terms, for our convenience, so the least we can do is look after the poor buggers.

You have to understand the response by Capt. Oblivious in the proper context. He made a point of mentioning socially inept people, because that's obviously a self-reference. He's one of those rare few who live high above the clouds, because they're better than the rest of us. His mother never told him to keep his mouth shut when he can't say anything nice about people, so all his yakking is this way.

oh dear. A forum where people see that kind of image and start their reply with 'Its just a stupid Dog'.
So if any picture of something hanging.... lets say an innocent human or maybe oh I don't know an American Soldiers burnt body hanging from a bridge in Iraq you would say 'Its just a stupid....'
And your comment that dogs have the intelligence of pigs is well frankly not suprising as you don't seem to have much between your ears yourself. I guess Guide Dogs for the blind are thick, dogs that answer the phone. answer the door, warn when there is danger such as a fire are thick, dogs that sniff out explosives and drugs are thick, rescue dogs that are being used right now in Asia to find trapped individuals after the earthquake are thick. I could go on but you probably forgot the beginning of the list by now so there is no point.
I dont own a dog, but my god if I found someone who would do this to anything sentient then there would be hell to pay.
I feel sorry for you I truly do.

By Oblivious's rationale, no one in here should care either way if someone were to mutilate him in some gruesome manner while ass raping him with a broomstick.... he's "just a stupid troll" afterall...

You've obviously been hurt and/or abandoned by a puppy, and Captain, I feeeeel your pain.
This bunny's for you, Cap. Give 'im a little kissy on the forehead and snuggle up. He loves you because you are you.
And hey, ya big lug...
'cause you're good enough, smart enough, and doggone it, bunnies like you!

Awesome pix. If anyone missed it, it's Dashi's Journal. Partly not safe for work. Partly cute as heck. Always interesting.
