Haven't had much experience with the Ren Faire crowd, have you. There are some AMAZING young women who do indeed hang out with guys who wear chain maile and play with swords. And often the young women wear more (or actually less) chain maile than the guys do. Picture "chain maile bikini" and you have a good idea of what I'm talking about. But wait, there's more! I've heard Ren Faires described as "swords and cleavage." Yes, there is THAT MUCH cleavage to be shared. Oh yes.
I pesronally draw the line at tights-but I may wind up in a kilt some day, as there's a fairly large population of Ren Faire ladies that like men in kilts. 
Oh, and the D&D angle isn't a big turn off for a lot of these ladies, either-frequently they're as much into it as the guys are.
