About a year ago, I bought a couple of iPod silhouette posters from some dude in France via ebay. The posters are 97"X63" and are printed on heavy paper, like card stock heavy. I don't want to use double-sided tape to put them up, because they have the reverse image on the back side, and I want to keep them nice. I've tried a couple of different methods to put them up, but they're just to heavy. Top or bottom comes loose, the whole thing rolls up and falls off the wall. Any ideas on how to hang such large posters? Anyone work in retail where they have these big posters up and can maybe point me in the right direction to get the hardware to hang them? Any help/advice would be appreciated.

Use wooden dowels. One on top. Other on the bottom. Use screws or staples to hold them on. Then just hang the upper dowel.
PS: I'll hang them for you if I can have your hemi cuda.

hmmmmm... the size is oddly large.
i would probably:
1 - look for the thinnest plyboard or hardboard available
2 - glue and screw 1" firring strips to the top and bottom back (inset 1")
3 - attach the mounting hardware of your choice to the top strip
- there are some nice ones with built in level bubbles available
4 - using contact cement cover the front side in heavy paper
5 - use metal clips on the corners and at appropriate intervals around the perimeter to secure the poster
6 - attach the corresponding mounting hardware to the wall
7 - hang big-ass picture
be well.

Your method is kind of what I had in mind, I was just hoping to find something along the lines of what they use to hang these monstrous posters in stores. Maybe something like this will work, even though it's a bit shorter than the width of the poster.
I had no idea how big these things were until they arrived (the guy shipped them in a five foot length of PVC pipe). I just though they were cool because all the text was in French.

cool. (3) of the 34s would probably work for a poster, giving you some overlap on each end. my concern given the size is that it may be very susceptible to tearing if it isn't actually mounted onto something.
not to mention something that big projecting out from the wall ~1-1/4" with no visible mounting (save for stainless steel clips) would look really nice.
where are you planning on hanging it? living room behind the sofa?
be well.

You could get some Command Adhesive pads. They hold a fair amount of weight and come off clean if you want to flip the poster.

well, this will work, and not damage any of the poster.
how much 'slack' or 'roll off' would you mind? i would simply use a piece of 2" diameter PVC at each end and roll 1 full rotation of the poster onto it. the weight of the bottom PVC will keep the poster streteched out. the top one will allow you to run a wire thru to hang it. think of it as an old map or document that you unroll from each side to read the middle. the pvc can be painted to match the top/bottom of the poster colors so if you saw the ends of the pvc, it wouldn't look like plumbing. if the weight is to great for one rotation to hold the poster, use a thin piece of 1x material to create a clamp of the edge of the top/bottom of the roll.

My friend has HUGE posters on his wall.. I believe he has some weird wood frame around them. No glass though.
