As long as they can take care of them and nurture them- more power to them. They are building a huge home and obviously have the financial stability.
It's the baby factories that can't support themselves, much less their kids that get me peeved.

found out that 60 minutes (or another type program) did a story on them. all the kids are home schooled. they have a buddy system (older child paired with a younger child). they use a bus to transport everyone when they go out. they have no debt (only buy if they have the money). all fine and dandy...but realestate + politics. me thinks he is financialy stable due to some interesting deals
but the question has to be asked, why? what purpose does having 16 (and soon to be 17) kids serve? if they want/love kids, maybe they should look into adopting kids that parents give up. that would be a better use of the resources if they feel they need to have this many children around.

It would be great to have one's own clan. And imagine if all the children got 16 children too. You could have them all organized into one shady family organization which placed its members in high-ranking positions and become the mightiest person in Arkansas. Of course, the downside is 16 children running around the house screaming a lot for 18 years...

What's whacko about the natural function of having kids?

"Of all the theories that persist despite tons of hard evidence against them, the champion is the theory of "overpopulation." The evidence was against it in Malthus' time and has been for two centuries since then. The next time someone tries to sell overpopulation hysteria, ask them to name just one country that had a higher standard of living when its population was half of what it is today."
-- Thomas Sowell
The birth rates for the US and Europe, along with Japan and Russia are quite low in recent decades, possibly even below the replacement rate. I think I read that at some point in the last year.

Arh. So it's the belief that makes them whacko, not the action? Funny that, 'coz I could have sworn you said " doing something whacko", which implies the action. Make your mind up!
