I'm not old. But I'm getting old-er all the time, we all are.

Last night, got home late from work, hockey game is on television, let's order a pepperoni pizza.

Here it is 4:21 AM. Stomach is in knots, I've got the runs waiting to happen and I just took two Pepcid ACs and a couple of Peptos. No heartburn luckily but just that twisted lower abdomen feeling with that bubbly-I'm-going-to-have-the-worst-time-in-about-20-minutes feeling.

I used to be able to eat a whole pizza as a kid with no ill effects. Now, give me 3 or 4 slices and I'm a basket case at 4 AM. What the F my body? What the F?

No, if you want GI-tract-fun... fast (in my case for Yom Kippur) and then consume a mountain of food. The body, even of a sophomore in Uni, does not like that!

Don't try to outweird me, I get stranger things than you free with my breakfast cereal.

Nope, no bad pizza. Just bad cellular decay, otherwise known as getting older.

This is another reason why I don't support intelligent design, someone smart would have "designed" me to function better as I got older, like a fine wine. Instead I feel like a Ford hitting 75K miles.

Fookin people on this forum. Just great.

iDriveX I just hit 30 (****ing **** I still don't believe that I'm 30!!! I look like I'm 25! still act like a 15yr old ) on the Oct 12. And here I am on a Friday morning still awake, eating cold pizza and I'm good. No problems on this end. Maybe it's because I didn't eat entire pizzas as a kid.

iDrive, could this not have something to do with the fact that you're no longer fat? (it was you who lost weight recently, wasn't it?). Thin folks can't eat as much as fat folks... ...smaller stomachs, etc..

Yeah I really spoiled my body with less carbs, high protein, tons of water, etc. Now whenever I eat anything relatively high in carbs, my body goes into a shock like state. I get congested, massive headaches, almost a hangover type feel afterwards.

iDriveX, this may sound crazy to you and others but have you considered that you may have Hypochlorhydria ?
Thats a low acid level in your stomach. It gives the same symptoms as hyperacidity.In fact, if you indeed suffer from that, antacids will make you worse in the long run. Do a google search for it. It will make sense when you read it. Betaine HCl (natural product) will fix that.

You're not getting older. You're getting old. Getting older is a euphemism used by people trying to make getting older seem less fatalistic.

The upside to having a few years, is you know how to maximize your fun time. What's that old saying (older saying in the OP's case), if I knew then what I know now, I wouldn't be around to know what I know now, you know?

MSG does that to me, some pizza places use MSG in their sauces instead of REAL spices.

You can't use MSG instead of spices, just to increase the taste of the spices.

(Also: 'getting older' and 'getting old' are not the same thing. I am 23. I am getting older. I am not yet getting old.)

Regarding MSG, it's really hard to avoid it completely.
MSG can be "hidden" in other food additions, like:
* Hydrolyzed Protein
* Sodium Caseinate, or Calcium Caseinate
* Autolyzed Yeast, or Yeast Extract
* Gelatin
* Textured Protein
* Carrageenan or Vegetable Gum
* Seasonings or Spices
* Flavourings or Natural Flavourings
* Chicken, Beef, Pork, Smoke Flavourings
* Barley Malt, Malt Extract, Malt Flavourings
* Bouillon, Broth, or Stock
* Whey Protein, Whey Protein Isolate, or Concentrate
* Soy Protein, Soy Protein Isolate or Concentrate
* Soy Sauce, or Extract

I don't have the time to read the label of every product I buy regarding these additions. Gosh. let alone, no more eating out AT ALL ?

Yes, but that is not what iDrive was trying to say. Getting old and "getting old-er" are indeed the same things, in mind if not body.

24 and you can't eat a whole pizza? That's not getting old, that's turning pussy. It's all that living in Cali that's doing it. Dr. Doofy recommends going to live in Montana for a while.

note being able to eat a whole pizza is a sign of old age? hmmm

i knew i was getting old when i couldn't do*: 10 tacos, 10 white castles and 10 shots of jack.

*i can still do it, but not as fast as i once could; so call it two sittings if you will, but not one sitting.

Awesome. I'm dieting to lose the weight I put on since my wedding this spring, and frankly it was from nothing so epic as your meal. I dream of putting something epic like that down my gullet.

yup, that was the 10-3 club from college days. last time i did it was 2 years ago (i'm in my 30s) and while i finished it, i broke it into two 'meals'. coming up soon though, the annual halloween camping trip, there is a new challenge that i will try.

10 pie iron pizzas. doesn't sound like much but all i can remember is doing 4 of them. not so much being full, but the time involved with prep/cooking slows down the momentum of eating. and what do you do while cooking? drink of course. so that starts to wear on yah.

last night i hit red lobster (all you can eat shrimp right now). the original order (pick two kinds (equalled 30 shrimp), plus potato, soup and rolls) and 10 more plates of shrimp...5 scampi and 5 fried. for a total of 130 shrimp plus the fixings from the original order. 3 beers, 2 cokes and 2 waters.

So that's why you don't fit in a normal sized car.

It's replacing the amount of spices used. Say, instead of putting a ounce of said spice in a mix, they put a half, and add MSG.
