Remember, the deadline is here.

If you have a lot of credit card debt maybe you should take advantage of the opportunity for a new start and file for bankruptcy?

I wouldn't qualify for it but some of the stories about HUGE credit card debt that will take, like, 50 YEARS to pay off are really amazing and those people should file, perhaps.

Those people should definitely file...unless they're going to win the lottery sometime soon.

Speaking of which, there should be a rule that if you win the lottery (Powerball is up to, like, $300 MILLION right now) at any point after you file for bankruptcy (and it is granted and your debts are dissolved) that you should have to repay your previous creditors.

So does that mean that I should hurry up and use my charge card to buy 10,000 black nanos and then file for bankruptcy? Will I get to keep my nanos?

No you shouldn't. Pay off the debt you incurred and be more careful in the future.

I think people should take the "Get Out Of Jail Free" card and take advantage of it.

U.S. banks are screwing people over left and right.

No, people should take responsibility for their actions and pay their debts! The banks hedge their bets against bad debts by "screwing people over"

Maybe this wouldn't happen if Bush had a reality-based macroeconomic policy. As the trade deficit grows and spending increases of course banks are going to run into the problem of giving out bad loans.

Bankruptcy "reform" is basically an oblique way to try and curb inflation which may become a problem over the next few months.

Great set of morals.

It's always somebody else's fault, isn't it? Too fat? Mc Donalds made me eat burgers. Bankrupt? The banks made me spend money I didn't have.

IT. HAS. NOTHING. TO. DO. WITH. BUSH.

This has been a public reminder from the people sick of hearing and seeing everyone blaming Bush for all their woes.

People filing for bankruptcy are as much of a burden on society as banks and their fees. It's always the 'honest' people that end up paying. Work out a budget, pay off debt. People don't 'deserve' a get out of free just because of their own incompetence at spending money on things they can't afford.

Bankruptcy laws are there to protect people, not to be abused.

It's always best to spend within your means to begin with. Should try to have a budget.

^^

I think what she means is that you should live within your means even if you have to borrow.
