Don't give us a link to the two so we can see them both or anything.

Don't have one online but I thought that link above illustrated the point rather nicely

Damn, that is a brutal copy. All Apple did is add some white paint splashes instead of the black lines.

Shame on you Apple.

Do we know that it wasn't the same ad agency or creative team? Just asking before, ya know, the mob rises in unfounded disgust.

If anything the lugz is a ripoff (extension) of the original ipod videos. Didn't steve say they were working on that ad for quite some time before they could actually air it?

I remember reading that Apple's Eminem ad was cancelled. Now it seems we know why...

He was probably referring to negotiating with that rapper.

Apple's is way better. That shoe commercial was just retarded.

I think what really makes it weird is that they both have an almost identical orange backdrop. If Apple had chosen some other color, it probably wouldn't have ever been noticed.

Exactly, Each are black silhouettes of people dancing on orange backgrounds of cityscapes.

You have to be one hell of an Apple Apologist to think this is a coincidence.

SWF, it may very well have nothing to do with Apple. I am not an apologist by any means.
But you are making factual statements with (still)no proof.

Telling you that doesn't make anyone an apologist.

Forget that Apple copied a three-year-old design...why the heck did use Eminem? He's about eight months away from sharing a room with the dude from the Dell commericals on 'The Surreal Life.'

That's nice, dont' read his stuff. Care to give me what "proof" you want?

How about a press release from Apple or an admission form the creative team? Will that do?

How can I say yes or no when you give me such a vague question.

I have ask you for specifics but you give none. I gave you side by side comparisons, videos etc but that's not good enough.

Vague?
Either you have factual proof to back up your specific claim that Apple "stole the idea" or you don't.

The side-by-side and videos aren't proof of theft, they merely show that the ads are similar. Again, how do we know it was or wasn't the same creative team? How do we know that Apple did or didn't get permission? We don't, yet you seem convinced of their guilt with nary a shred of corroborative evidence.

Either way who cares. Making it the same creative team makes it even more pathetic. Who sells the same ad to two clients?

If Apple got permission it is still a bite off of the shoe ad.

sorry but it's not like I hadn't seen that colour scheme before the lugs ad either.
There are lots of things that look the same now-a-days.
But I think that they could have gotten away with it if the background was another colour.

Umm...I really don't get how so many people see this as stolen.

It's just another silhouette ad. But, like the U2 ad, the artist is not entirely silhouetted so that you can actually tell it's the artist. I'm betting they put the city in the background because Eminem is "all about the streetz yo" so they put him in a city (Detroit). The orange is probably the same orange they use in their other silhouette ads.

I'm not for originality really since so much that we have now is inspired by older styles. I can't say I'd care either way. But to put this in perspective, it's just an ad. My cynical side just tunes that stuff out anyway. I guess I'm not the Apple fanatic I once was.

I think the ad sucks. At the end it should pan out to show that the commercial was playing on a video iPod. It only makes sense.

Duh, he already asked you that ONCE. You are just beating around the bush because you know you have none.

That once again, you are making baseless accusations. Big surprise.

So what what advertising agency did it? Chiat Day? Chiat Day maybe outsourced it to to blkmrkt.com like they did with other projects...it's totally his style(even though he doesn't do motion graphics).

So what ad did it then?
