Hey everyone probably remembers the Panther Feature that never was. Home on iPod. Well we all also know that it wasn't doable because the iPod's HD would die from that much writing and rewriting and what not. But I was thinking flash memory is both fast and from what I understand stands up well to that sort of thing. So how bout it, anyone think that we might some day be able to hold a home directory on an iPod nano. Or at least a library?

There's no reason you couldn't do this today with an iPod. I have home folders on a xserve and can use them anywhere at work, through open directory. The iPod's hard drive is as long lasting as any other hard drive, it's just gets a bad rap because it doesn't like getting dropped, and the ipod can be like a wet bar of soap. You'd just need to set up the home folder location in the NetInfo database for your accounts.
