Hmmm...I'm eager to hear the rationale for this.
Jackson called for jury service
Pop star Michael Jackson has received a jury summons at his Neverland ranch in California - four months after he was acquitted on child molestation charges.
But it is likely he will be excused from serving due to the fact that he has lived in Bahrain since the trial.
"All he has to do is show he has legal residency somewhere else and he'll be exempted," said Santa Barbara jury commissioner Gary Blair.
Jackson was in London last week to record a charity single.
Fans mobbed the pop star as he attended a performance of Billy Elliot: The Musical and visited the Madame Tussauds waxworks museum.
Paperwork
The singer's legal team have filed paperwork requesting a deferment.
"He is permanently living outside of the United States," said his trial lawyer, Thomas Mesereau.
Ronald Reagan was also summoned to serve on a jury when he was president but was granted a deferment until he was out of office, Mr Blair said.
Actress Bo Derek, also a Santa Barbara resident, has received at least two jury summons and served on one panel.

Give petty people just a little bit of power and watch how they misuse it! You can't silence the self doubt, can you?

Wasn't this mentioned when the trial was ending? Working on an image makeover to try and salvage his career.

I didn't follow the trial that closely. Hey, good luck to him as long as he doesn't break the law. With his association with the Nation of Islam here in the US I wonder if he might be converting to Islam. I've seen individuals who were criminals and living without ANY positive direction until they hooked up with the Black Muslims and then they got their behinds straightened right up!
Selling bean pies and dressing in a suit every day, hey man it was good for em!

He should join Nation of Islam. Louis Farrakhan said they have had a spaceship orbiting Venus for the last few thousand years observing us white people who were made 2000 years ago by a mad scientist.

Unless he has legally changed his address, he's still subject to jury duty. Just because he's "permanently living in Bahrain" doesn't excuse him, although in his case a few bucks pressed in the right palm will no doubt help.

Why is there always money for war, but none for education?

He's living in Bahrain so that the kids' mother can't see those children of hers or pursue custody.
He's a manipulative, child molesting FREAK.

Here's a MIDI instrumental of "Midnight at the Oasis." Some creative person here might create a whole new set of lyrics to this (Maria Muldaur) hit in honor of Michael and who knows what fame and glory might result?

That's not true. I got called for jury duty in California while I was temporarily living in Minnesota for school. I told them what my situation was and they said I didn't have to serve. My address was still a California one at the time.
