This friend of mine is interested in 'going Mac', but has one reservation. It's a piece of software she uses for work, www.massage-suite.com/, available for PC only.

a description on the site says:

Massage Suite is a software program designed for a massage therapy practice. Work began in early 2003 working with the owner of a massage therapy clinic. The software has features designed to help manage the day to day recordkeeping and billing for both relaxation and medical massage. The software gives you the ability to create SOAP notes for both relaxation and medical sessions. HCFA forms, and custom forms, for medical massage billing can be printed very quickly. The software provides for seven income streams (Relaxation Massage, Medical Massage, Advance Payments, Gift Certificates, Product Sales, Billing, and Miscellaneous Income). The software contains a number of other features to help make managing your massage therapy practice easier.
-------------------

Surely there's something similar for a Mac, I'm just not a very "office-software" kind of guy so I dunno. Anyone know of something that could accomplish what she needs? Obviously it doesn't need to say "Massage" in the software title, but she'd smile if it did.

I googled a bit and came up with nothing.

No way. She has to keep a good PC in the office. When Intel Macs come around, study the situation again.

This app solves 5% of the problem, btw.

That'd be easy. And yes, having a PC around is easy too. : )

I wish your massage therapist all the best. VPC would be a good option.

Found this: http://massagesoftware.com/ If your friend picked up Massagetoday mag or some other monthly directed towards massage professionals they have the equivelent of macconnection but for all things massage related. The operators would be able to tell you friend if there are other programs out there which would work. Most others mention how people use VPC when using their product.

Good luck

What precisely is a SOAP note? A note describing how much soap you use per client?

It's an acronym for: subjective, objective, assessment and plan. It's what massage therapists, and I guess anyone in a health or medical field would use when taking notes on a client or patient.

Yes, it has been widely used in the medical field, especially in nursing. Have been using ti for over 20 years. It's what the patient/client says, what the writer observes, the assessment of what has been observed, and how the person plans to resolve the problem.

Or, if you prefer, it's an XML-based protocol (that's the first thing that came to mind, anyway):

I have seen some massage therapy mac software, but it does not offer happy endings for billings, due to tax purposes. I could tell you the name of the software if you could say if she does happy endings or not.
