Yay! Videos! Why is this so hard to licence to any other international store? *sigh*

Oh and, booo hiss for Sony Australia, as the only Sony in the world not to join iTMS! Boycott!

Signed up with Credit Card, haven't yet bought anything. As an aside, what's with the amateur graphics on Apple Australia's homepage?

EDIT: Bought a track now. Downloaded in under 10 seconds. I do, however have a 12mbps connection.

I bought some Badloves and Missy Higgins.

The store opened at 3am. By 3pm Sony BMG were trying to get onboard. I laughed out loud.

I got me some Bernard Fanning. It's about time they released something that has been touted in the mainstream media as 'available soon' since the US launch.

Really ? sounds like they were trying to stall the launch as long as possible....very sleazy business tactic if you ask me. Ill be running around tomorrow looking for an iTMC.

Congratulations Australians!

Finally, welcome to the wonderful world of the instant gratification known as the iTMS! It is so much fun to sit down and buy an album. I do that every once in a while.

cheers

SonyBMG pushes for iTunes deal

October 25, 2005 - 2:20PM
Music giant Sony-BMG is hopeful it will join Apple's newly launched Australian iTunes music store and says a deal between the two is imminent.

The record company is the only major label not to have artists listed on the digital download site, which went live in Australia this morning.

Sony-BMG's roster includes Pete Murray, Alex Lloyd, Franz Ferdinand, Rogue Traders and Australian Idol artists Anthony Callea and Shannon Noll. Lloyd's earlier releases - on EMI - are listed on the site, while his more recent albums, recorded with Sony BMG, have been omitted.

Emmanuel Candi, general manager of business strategy and human resources for Sony-BMG Entertainment Australia, said the company's US arm had met Apple representatives to discuss the issue.

"There's a couple of points left to finalise, the negotiations are going really well and we hope that they will be all settled soon and we'll be on track too," he said.

"We welcome them to the market, it's a good thing and we've been talking to them for a couple of years about coming to Australia and opening shop so it's good to see them come down and we expect to see things finalised real soon."
THEY were the bastards who held it up!

They've gone now - what happened?

Also - aren't Sony still not on iTMS Japan? I think in the last few months they've realised how successful iTMS has become...
