Recently the spam torrent has been a trickle (for me) - but in the last two days every other message has been spam from Asia.

Anyone else getting this?

I've gotten tons of Japanese (which is what that is) spam for months now, mainly because my e-mail address is listed on a number of quite popular Japanese music sites.

It's possible that someone posted your address on a .jp domain or on a site popular in Japan as well.

Yes I am getting the same stuff, about 50 a day. My podcast site got posted somewhere in Japan and some arse harvested the contact address.
Thankfully they all get filtered and chucked, but still - I hate spammers.

Edit: What's the spam for? I can't read Japanese.

Yes, heaps of spam. I never get any in my inbox. Good old gmail.

Lots of Blog spam too.

I'm getting some Japanese spam at work lately. While I'm pretty sure that my work e-mail address is not associated with any Japanese sites, it is on Usenet and someone is probably trolling that for E-mail addresses again....

I'm getting no Asian spam at home, but that addy is not on usenet anywhere.

Gmail not quite so good at catching spam for me - I often have to mark it as spam my self.

I have indeed been getting more than the normal level of spam, but it's all been domestic, not Asian. For a while several years ago I got something like 30-40 spams a day from Asian sources and with Asian encoding of one form or another, but that kind of dried up on its own. I haven't received anything that appeared to be the same sort of thing since.
