I'd been trying to figure out ways to get my Japanese middle school students to be more creative in class. So I gave them a bunch of webcomics with the text removed and let them go at it. Some of the results are funny. Some are super funny. Others just bad. Anyways, enjoy.

Every year, my wife has her Latin I students draw comics depicting events in Roman history as a project. She doesn't grade them on artistic talent or anything; as long as she can tell what event is being depicted and that event is depicted accurately, it's good.

This has led to some... interesting... results. I'd never thought to visualize the Punic Wars in the style of Pac-Man before.

Sorry about the text in some of them. Students writing with a brown pencil, on light brown crap paper makes it hard for my scanner to pick it up sometimes. Even doing some editing in photoshop isn`t enough.

I finally got around to scanning in the last batch the other night and I`ll post those after work is done. Those are really damn funny. The best bunch I would say.

Penny Arcade actually works best I`ve found because you can blow them up a bit and they still look nice, plus they still look good when photo copied, and also because some are just very weird. Ohhhh the fun I`ll be having on Halloween with some comics. That and my crazy afro outfit.

My friends and I got the biggest laugh out of Piece of Cake. We don't know why, it was just pretty rediculous.

You remind me my wife… why you laugh? She dead. | sasper at gmail dot com

Yeah, I stuck up two more sets. The last group is just super crazy great. I'm not kidding. I was almost crying from some of them.

This one is just super.

Those are pretty cool. I was actually thinking of starting up drawing again, and making a series of little comics.

Webcomics are serioulsy changing the way comics are done in this country. From my understanding, it was nearly impossible for anyone to get their comic published in any newspaper in America without selling their soul to the comic syndicate. These days you can be succesful online, which will probaly start bleeding into regular newspapers soon.

Plus its nice to have comics where people can sware. Openly.
