i have a strip of christmaslights going around my room and I play a lot of music. Is there anything available that i could put between the outlet and the light plug so that the lights could pulse to the beat of the music? Any kind of device with an audio sensor?

any recommendations?

Look in the cheapo "ricer" section of local stores. Locally, stores carry plenty of such devices. You plug them in your cigarette lighter, and leds / neons / whatever flash with the music (you can sometimes even adjust the sensativity). You could just cut off the cigarette lighter tip, and wire on a transformer, or you could buy a cig-lighter to wall-plug converter.
yep.

Oops... you wanted to use a sound senser WITH your christmas lights... these all have built in lights. You might be able to bridge off of them though. Depends on how much you like to tinker.
yep.
