Inmate unhappy with his medical care.

Unbelievable: This guy who killed a police officer is complaining about his medical care up to this date - $90,000 worth.

This is an example of the system being abused. He kills someone and he is complaining about his medical care.

He must be at a *** (3-star) prison, instead of the upscale ***** "Hyatt" variety.

Sad, he is just trying to milk the system.

Wait a minute there ... the article says: "The man accused in the shooting death of a Lake County deputy ..." and "... is being held in the Seminole County Jail on a first-degree murder charge ...". That means he hasn't been convicted yet and is (supposedly) presumed innocent until proven guilty, correct?

You know what's really funny about this? If it turned out that the guy was innocent and didn't receive proper care while being locked up, you'd also be the first person to post a new thread, ranting about the "unbelievable treatment of an innocent man".

I don't mean this as insult (more of an observation, really) - but you sound a lot like a repressed hippie who used to burn her bra during the many women's rights marches she went to while attending college and got turned republican right after she married. Politically bi-polar ... just a little bit.

Uh, he's definitely guilty and uh, it's too bad they didn't hit him in the center of the left side of his chest.

No wonder the cops are taught to "shoot to kill."

Is this the correct place to request a feature? If so, I'd like to be able to ignore entire threads by people on my ignore list. I know this would cut down on the number of threads showing in the Lounge, but it would be worth it.

Even criminals have the right to proper medical care. I don't see what's so wrong with this. So much for Christian morality.

lol well perhaps the problem is your medical system is so expensive that sure its costing alot to take care of him, the same way it costs lots for average hard working Americans to pay for the same care. Maybe the system itself needs work to reduce costs, then less will be spent on a guy who is in the care of the athorities.

Wheeler, who has been in the Seminole jail since April, said he is paralyzed from midtorso down and takes medication to ease muscle spasms in his legs.

...

Some of Wheeler's latest expenses include: a $2,225 air mattress with an air pump, a $472 emergency-room visit, a $234 contour cushion for his wheelchair
If you're paralysed from the waist down, why on Earth do you need a "contour cushion" for your wheelchair?

This guy is playing the system for all it's worth.
Been inclined to wander... off the beaten track.

contour cushion prevents root from a uneven surface for the bottom. Its something that is actually important to save on future medical conditions. The guy just did his homework

Hi Kevin: I like your echo!

(((((("HELLO!"))))))

Anyway, am I against this perp getting medical care? No.

What I find astounding is his lack of concern for the person he killed. The guy that he killed is stone cold dead, his family is alone and struggling, and he's bitching about how he doesn't get a second opinion?

Unbelievable.

Hate? What hate? Are you talking to Capt. Obivous or me? Trust me, my post would have sounded something like this: "", had I assumed Cody's motives had anything to do with hatefulness. I merely happen to believe that she has a tendency for the melodramatic (not necessarily a bad thing) and happens to be uhm, ... a tad bit too "excitable" for her own good at times.

In her own " - - " kind of way, she's actually a real cutie.

Anyhow - your playing the white knight, "jump-in-to-save-the-maiden" part is much appreciated - just don't get carried away. People might start to think you have a crush on her ...

Yes, I'm sure you think you're clever, besson3c. You keep up your self-laudatory comments.

Unfortunately, sometimes I am, but in situations like this where someone is hurt for no reason at all, like this woman who was killed by hurricane evacuees that she helped then people need to pay.

As someone mentioned, millions of well-deserving Americans deserve and need health care and a piece of human trash does not deserve the best care as he is demanding. Next thing you know he'll be asking to be airlifted to Johns Hopkins for stem cell therapy.

Now where's WDLove? Let's see what he has to say about bleeding heart "Republicans." Actually, I rather like that moniker if I think about it. I am a compassionate conservative, yes.

Gah!

Why lock those f**kers up? Just shoot them in the face and toss them into a pit. I can't stand the fact that my taxes are going to feed them.

And when, 9 months after their conjugal visits, we are paying for the delivery of their offspring (Stephanie from the story) I guess we can all be very proud about how decent we are.

Why do murderers deserve medical care? Would any of you really miss them if they just withered away?

I'm here Cody. I'm a very caring person. That is very sad, still evil exists in the world. Why do that to someone that is trying to help.

There is nothing wrong with being a "bleeding heart" anything. I just think I'm being clever in calling you this because it is often used in a derogatory sense in labeling democrats, as if there is something wrong with caring.

I do find the label "compassionate conservative" rather funny too, given the government has no qualms with cutting health care, veterans pay, and adopts "trickle-down" economic policies designed to benefit the rich more than the poor.

That moves in PL territory though.

You keep your heart bleeding Cody. Your bleeding heart would make a great Halloween custom, although I suppose you've have to be topless for people to see your bleeding.

You could apply that to bleeding heart anything when it comes to politics.

However, I always thought of the "bleeding heart liberal" as something like a hippie or tree-hugger...
