Will Apple's other products go black? (and never go back...)

With the popularity of the Black 5G iPods do you think Apple will offer it's other products in black such as the iMac or Mini?

i dunno. doesn't white seem to work better for home appliances where black works better for clothing accessories? a white ipod after labor day?! really, now... ;-)
also, for the desktop computers the white and metallic help to set them apart from the competition. back to black would be a good switch for the laptops (like a hi-def widescreen composite based on the pismo form).
be well.

Probably. Then a move back to clear in 5 years. Then back to white a while after that. They have to keep changing styles to make things look dated.

a high gloss black iMac would be pretty cool don't think I'd buy it but... for someone else
PowerMacs in black wouldn't be that grand... black on the keyboard again would be nice though.

Not a fan of black. too 'Dell'-ish. The PSP black is better though. But i do prefer the white and brushed metal. I also loved the iMacDVSE graphite/clear look...kinda classy imo. But black, no....just reminds me of Dell's crappy computers.

Dell is more of that crappy plasticy matt black though. The nano and the PSP are high gloss which is sexy.

I agree. for some reason i think a black iPod is better suited for video playback. makes the colors and brightness more vivid and clear...but thats my opinion.

It sucks, doesn't it. Everyone was beige, Apple went black. Everyone goes black, Apple goes white. Rinse and repeat.
I think the current lineup would look great in black.

Not sure, but I wish they'd build another iMac like the G4 iMac with the adjustable LCD. I miss that machine. If it was powerful enough I'd sell my current machine for it.

You are right. The newer TV's even though they are silver all have a black border around the screen to do just that. I purposely waited for the newer model of my TV partly for that feature as the older one was all silver.

Lessee... Beige, bondi-blue, clearish colors, white, silver....
Other than the odd black product here and ther (Pismo, Wallstreet, though not really black), Apple DOES need a new color, I'd say.
How about taupe? Blue? Chrome!

I REALLY liked the Sage iMac. I love that color. I want a translucent, Sage PowerBook.

I think Apple should start making computers that are encrusted with gold and have wooden panel finishes, now THAT is luxury and sofistication.

I could see black high-gloss powerbooks doing well.
Wasn't there talk about carbon fiber powerbooks because of their current heating factor? That would be hawt.

Black is impossible to keep clean. I hope they don't make anything gloss black, it would show every scratch and fingerprint very visibly. Yes, I own a black car. Yes, it looks sweet when it's clean. No, I will never buy another black car again.

I hope they dont change it. I like black for my iPod, but for everything else the white/silver works perfectly. I really like the translucent feel of the iMac G5's--that is very slick imo. If I were to get speakers for my mac, I would most definately get the JBL Creature 2--the white version.
Not to mention that its unique. The move away from beige is apparant--especially with the new dells, which are black and gray. Also a lot of the cases you can buy for a pc are black anyway. Or they have shiny blue sh!t and are whatever color you can think of.
Seriously, I think the PC side of the equation is making black the new beige. But white--no one else is doing that. Not sure why, maybe they think its boring or something. Even white lights. Apples are the only computers Ive seen that use white lights, which are much nicer looking and brighter than those ugly blue and green LEDs.
...i fear change, i suppose.
EDIT:
I agree. for some reason i think a black iPod is better suited for video playback. makes the colors and brightness more vivid and clear...but thats my opinion.
That is most definately true. Isnt there a similar reason why all the pro video/3D apps tend to have a darker UI than other apps--less distracting from the content youre creating or something like that?

Wow, looking at that brought back memories. I could clearly remember the smell of it as we pulled it out of the box. It was the first modern Mac I used since our old LC.

nah, i dont think clear would work. doesnt the fcc or someone have regs on emissions from computers? I think i saw a clear case in the cyberguys catalog, but they said it was for demonstation only, and than one should not turn on a computer with a clear case.
Not to mention that frankly, computer guts look ugly. Granted, Apple makes them MUCH less ugly (im sure weve all seen the juxtaposition of an open PowerMac G5 and a typical PC...) I still like the silver beter than looking at a motherboard and ram and stuff.
Whatever materials they decide to use, I'm sure it will be high quality. Even the plastic they use is mcuh higher quality than the plastic even expensive PC cases use. And the anodized aluminum (I think thats what it is, correct me if im wrong) just blows away anything the PC world has done.

Another advantage with the clear thing is that you know if Apple were to do it, the PC world would rip it off like that *snaps fingers*. Except the guts of a PC look like 2 billion times uglier than a Mac. And we could point and laugh at them. And pointing and laughing at people is always fun...especially if they're PC zealots.
