He's had a good opinion of the last few OS X releases also. The problem with Paul Thurrott is not that he hates Apple (or Linux for that matter) but that he bends over backwards to praise Microsoft even when they don't deserve praise.

I am betting he thinks bashing Windows will now attract the insecure Windriods.

Thurrott writes a pro-Apple anti-MS article every once in a while - usually about something insignificant, so that when he writes a MS-biased article, and you call him a biased MS-fanboy loser, he can say "No - I'm not biased - look at this anti-MS article I wrote - that proves it."
He pretty much admits it here:
In short, this guy's ranting about nothing. And look at me, defending Apple.
Not a bad plan - but he's still an Apple-bashing MS-fanboy.

I once would listen to his banter, but I've long since given up. He is consistently wrong, but the few things he does get quasi-acurate, he shouts it from his little soap box.
He also purchased a Mac a while back... and IMHO, he did so... so he could bitch about the Mac. Many of his complaints were simply "This isn't how Windows works"

It's harder these days for people to get excited about MS and Windows. The internet is far more interesting to people than file systems or whatever features Vista may offer. People don't care if Vista will have a huge sidebar or if its windows will be transparent, they want to be able to find information instantly on Google and use web-based apps like Google Maps or Google Print. You don't need windows to do this, you just need a web browser. Because of this the differences between Macs and PCs are less important than they used to be, and it seems ridiculous that someone like Thurrott wants to keep this old rivalry alive.

Karrigan as long as there is spyware and crap like that on Windows, the differences will always be great.

The problem with Windows is... the average users haven't seen much change since Windows 95.
Why upgrade?

If you read his stuff regularly, he can be pretty hard on MS. At least he uses a lot of Mac products, which is way more than you can say about someone like Enderle...

He runs winsupersite.com which is usually impossible to distinguish from Microsoft PR propaganda (though it's been getting slightly better lately).

Not really pushing him but if you go to his blog site
http://www.internet-nexus.com/
you will find him a little more Mac friendly.
And no Atomic Rooster, you really don't need to care.
