Can You Build a Mac on Intel Hardware?.

"The race between Apple and the TPM crackers is ongoing. Just as we went to press, Apple released the OS X 10.4.2 upgrade, which breaks the cracked copies currently out on the Internet. Any software included with this release won't run on the earlier versions. In short, you aren't supposed to own a copy of the OSx86 build unless you're a registered developer with Apple. And we're certainly not going to tell you how to get hold of the image file. But just for a moment, let's say you do happen to have a copy of the build lying around. Obviously it works only on certain PC hardware. Could we build a PC using inexpensive parts that would run it cleanly and reliably? (Strictly for test purposes, of course; we'll erase the hard drive when we're done. Really.)"

I remember reading a tech review column in the Wall Street Journal, and I chuckled to myself when I read how the author had obtained some pirated episodes of BattleStar Galactica "from a friend" for testing purposes.. not even trying to come up with a good lie there

I'm pretty sure it wasn't Mossberg, though I could be wrong.

<OT>

What baffles me is that there are people who actually read sites like that. That thing (literally) consists of 95% ads and 5% editorial content (red box).

I was aware of the fact that loads of folks are completely numb in the head but c'mon ...

The ads are mostly below the content - just don't scroll that far!

I think Apple leaks some of this stuff.

There are hacked copies of the new version all over the web and they aren't making a peep.

The final version may be harder to bypass the proprietory chip but it will be done.

There's something sneaky happening in Cupertino.

PS...I thought everyone had a copy?
