West Valley counterfeit money ring busted

However, investigators did say an Avondale couple arrested in the scheme tripped up when they sent a printer, which was jammed with counterfeit bills, out for repair.

I think it's funny how they make it sound like the Secret Service was "hot on their case" when in reality they were just dumb.

...and so instead of being happy that criminals have been busted, we just take another opportunity to bash the police/investigators. Great.

Well is it a good thing or a bad thing?

I think that 10% is good progress. 10% is a good chunk of any crime. Imagine if you could take down 10% of murders...

I mean, what, you think that its even concievable to take down ALL counterfeiters in a given state in one fell swoop? Heh, good luck with that one.

Now don't get me wrong--they should not stop to celebrate, as there is still much work to do. But don't whine because progress is being made. And it is in an acceptable amount.

If it doesn't involve rape or murder or stealing somebody's personal property, I generally root for the criminals. The government takes a shitload of our earnings and piddles them away on stupid ****. If someone can gain some back by cheating on their taxes, more power to them.

You'd think they had enough money to buy a new one instead of just repairing the old one.

It isn't the government piddling away your money, it's individuals and groups IN the government who are greedy, or stupidly coerced by greedy people, that are piddling away the money. And the less you say about it to the people responsible for screwing up, the more you're letting them get away with it, and so you're screwing yourself.

Cheating on your taxes and spending counterfeit money are just two petty examples of how dumb people think they're getting ahead, but really they're just crapping in the same water everybody drinks.

I'll say it again: dumb people, ignorant people, lazy, greedy, selfish people.
When you were young and your heart was an open book, you used to say "live and let live."
But if this ever changing world, in which we live in, makes you give in and cry, say "live and let die."

You're explaining basic concepts to Ca$h. Don't worry eventually you'll learn. The only reason to bother ever arguing with Ca$h is just if you want to argue and don't mind if you're in the same spot you were in an hour. Personally I don't find it worth it.

Riddle me this batman. They seized about $150 grand in counterfeit money. How much do you think the budget is for FINDING said counterfeit money in a year?

It's a waste of cash. So's the war on drugs. So's a lot of things. Madison, for example, spent over $75,000 on each ****ing bus stop. Yep. The stupid little shelter that people SIT in. 3/4 of a hundred grand.

But yet you find commiting all your 'faith' to an obviously flawed and man made belief system worth it, go figure.

How would you feel if you received counterfeit cash as change for a transaction from a retailer? How about your future employer pays you in counterfeit cash?

That's too funny. There's a radio station here that does a "stupid criminals" segment. I'll have to send this to them.

It's always weird when your little town makes it on the national/international news stage. I lived in Avondale for a couple of years before moving 6 miles west, to neighboring Goodyear. Avondale's the kind of big city (Phoenix) suburb you'd never hear of if it weren't for stuff like this. I saw a TV satellite truck going into a neighborhood near my parents' the other day. I thought that was unusual, then saw the counterfeiting story on the news that night. Makes sense now.

But the debt sits with the government. Whether they hunt these guys down or not, you will pay the same amount of tax.

I assure you, the damage to the economy that would ensue from uncontrolled counterfeiting and anarchy would be much more than $150 grand or what you're paying in taxes now.

Furthermore, if I were to rape your wife and kill your kids, how much money would it be worth to you to get me off the streets? Would you root for me as a criminal, because the government is wasting your money hunting me down? I hope not. ..on second thought, you would probably find and kill me yourself. But then I would have to ask, would a society regulated entirely by vigilates and anarchists thrive? I think not.

Case and point--we don't know for sure what would happen if we let these guys go. But we have a good idea. So whatever the crime--rape, murder, counterfieting bills, crime must be stopped, and crime must be punished.

I used to work on the top floor of an office building that was part of a mall. From my office window, I had a bird's eye view of the rooftop mall parking lot. One day, a bunch of bank robbers held up one of the bank in the mall. Unbeknownst to them, one of the customers was a cop and when they left the bank, the cop followed them onto the rooftop parking and opened fire on them. The robbers jumped into their getaway car (all but the the one guy the cop had shot dead) and sped off firing a few shots at the cop as they left. By this stage, I'd heard the noise and was watching from the window.

The parking lot had 4 boomed exits where you needed to pay to get out and then they'd laid out the roads on the inside in a complicated fashion in an effort to avoid a massive grid ofparking spaces. So the thieves head off at warp speed through the parking lot and they get lost in the maze. They wind up driving back toward the cop who unloads a couple more rounds into their car killing one of them inside the car and getting wounded himself. This went on for about 10 minutes. The robbers speeding around the parking lot unable to find any way out and the cop manouevring around to take pot shots at them every few minutes.

Eventually the robbers drove to one of the low walls surrounding the parking lot, abandoned the car and the money and climbed over the edge of the roof. Now they were hanging 3 floors up! Another smart move. One of them let go and a few minutes later, I saw an ambulance lethargically driving away from the spot he would've landed at so I guess he didn't make it. The other two were interrogated by the Police while they were hanging there (no doubt they got a confession) before the fire brigade rescued them!

Half the firm was in my office by the time it had all ended and most of us were in hysterics despite the seriousness of the action on the roof. The policeman got the highest award for bravery that the Police offered.

Anyway, for all Robs pseudo-championing of the little people, who do you think really gets hurt by counterfeiting? When you turn in a phony bill to the bank they don't exactly give you back a shiny new one. You're just out the money. So somebody passes these at Wal-Mart, (which isn't Saks and their typical shopper reflects that), it goes into the drawer, then gets given as change to some other poor guy.

Meh.
