i considered .mac, but it's a bit expensive considering i'd only use it for mail. i settled on a hotmail account which i've used for a few months, but i'm very eager to get rid of it.
anyway, i used fusemail for a year or so with a pc, and it was great. i really liked the features and interface (there's a demo on the site), and had planned to sign up again... but i just read that it has tons of problems with macs. so now i'm looking for something comparable that's a little more mac-friendly.
can anyone suggest a good affordable webmail service with a good interface and features that's mac oriented? or at least compatible?
thanks.
why does it have to be web based?

Gmail is great, and I have it set up for POP3, so I can use 'Mail' when on my mac, and web-based, when somewhere else

Gmail? Cluttered and disorganized? Gmail is the gold standard in webmail. NOTHING you find anywhere else will be as well-designed and minimalist.

I have to disagree with you. Gmail is not cluttered and disorganized when compared to all the alternatives out there. Tooki is right, Gmail is the gold standard in webmail.
Its great also, because like harrisjamieh, I have set it up for POP3, and use 'Mail' to dl a hard copy, and then Gmail stores the email away for me! Anyways, where else can you get 2.6+gigs of free storage space for webmail?

the only way you could think GMail was cluttered was if you have insect eyes.

Sorry, not to derial this thread, I'm curious for those using Gmail, I send alot of PDF documents to my coworkers who uses Hotmail on various PCs. Not sure if it's Gmail or their PCs or Hotmail, but oftentimes they can't open the PDF doc or nothing is attached.
My guess is that Gmail is messing up. Anyone else get this too?

GMail is the gold standard in disregard for privacy, and it is a treasure trove for marketers. I am not comfortable with having all of my personal communications sold to advertisers. I like to imagine that there are still some parts of my life which are off-limits to big companies.

If you don't like Gmail... you aren't going to like ANYTHING.
As others have said, it's the gold standard.

Gmail does not "sell your personal communications to marketers." It has a computer program (presumably the same one used to choose AdSense ads for a page) that analyzes the content of the page (that happens to have your mail displayed on it) and selects some ads to display. I don't find this to be particularly intrusive on my privacy.
Remember that email (regardless of your provider) may be relayed through any number of mail servers on the Internet, and they may keep copies of your mail for an indefinite amount of time. You have no control over this, it's just how email works. If the content of your emails is highly valuable you should be using strong encryption, which requires a traditional (not webmail) email account because the encryption keys are stored on your computer.

Hoorah GMail! I use it constantly. I'd suggest giving it a shoton a trial-only basis and see how you like it. Trust me, it's addictive. Some of the features it features (the way it handles replies is ingenious, in my opinion) make so much sense that you have trouble figuring out why other webmails don't use them.

I use gmail, but I don't think I appreciate its interface as much as many of you do. It's too minimalist - it leaves me constantly searching the screen for buttons. I also don't do well without folders.

Then use the labels as if they were folders. They're basically the same thing except that you can now put a message in more than one folder.
