I recently have discovered a band called "Stars", and I love their music so much, that I want to share my thoughts on them and to invite everyone to take a tour in the iTMS. I'm pretty sure this is not news to everyone, but everyone not knowing them should!

Of course, describing music is especially difficult when you don't have any experience in that, so I'll just say what I love about it.

The genre might best be described as soft rock, whereas it's not the usual "hey-let's-make-love-crap-rock", but very sophisticated and "fluid". They use mainly accustic instruments, with decent electronic additions and orchestal elements. There is a male and a female singer, both have only the most beautiful voices. Songs are male/female and some only male or female.
Almost every song from their latter albums "Heart" and "Set yourself on fire" is an earwig. Many earwigs have the disadvantage, that you can't hear them after some time - not with the ones mentioned here! They are interesting and surprising everytime you here that tune. Their rhythm is unique, and though 90% of the songs are unbelievably beautiful, they don't sound one like the other.

It's "feel good music" par excellence. I especially recommend the Albums "Heart", "Set yourself on fire" and the EP "The Comeback".

Go check them out!

Oh, you crazy people and your lateness on the bandwagon! Next thing you'll be posting that The Arcade Fire is awesome!

I went to the Hillside Community Festival just outside of Guelph (near Toronto, Ontario, Canada) this past summer, just to see Stars and The Arcade Fire. Sarah Slean, the Hidden Cameras, Luke Doucet, Apostle of Hustle and a bunch of other musicians played on the Saturday that we were there (it's a 3-day festival, with different performers playing every day...Sam Roberts, the Weakerthans, etc. played on other days).

Anyways, Stars and the Arcade Fire were the headliners that night. Even though it's a festival with an open-air stage, and thus of course less "intimate" that a club show, it was one of the most amazing concerts I've ever seen. Stars put on a really good show, but of course the Arcade Fire just went off and blew the stage apart. I'd throw up some pictures, but I don't have them uploaded at the moment....

Set Yourself On Fire is definitely a very, very solid album. I think it's a little inconsistent in spots, but I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who likes pop.
