Cary Sherman doesn't even KNOW what responsible means. Another strongarm for the record companies. Perhaps the music writers and studio performers need to get together and NOT sign contracts with big record companies, but start selling CD's and individual songs on the internet. Cutting the big companies out of the music takes away their bucks they would hire lawyers with. Heaven forbid they run out of coke or anything. Internet and satillite radio can also cut the profits away from local, mostly sindicated radio stations too. Small and Big entertainers could still bring down the big music corporations in the name of real variety. Music should be grassroots driven, not greedy tasteless corps.

This is what amuses me about how "responsible" Sony is. Their DRM and uninstaller were deliberately made difficult to fully remove from a Windows system. The only real way to ensure that the DRM is gone is to wipe the drive and install Windows from scratch. It took bad press and outcry from millions, class-action lawsuits, and the EFF before Sony decided to respond. Not only that, their DRM uses GPLed code from LAME. People should be going to jail for this. Sony might just get a slap on the wrist.

If nothing else this will generate a lot of unrest amonst the general population, and maybe something will be done higher up.
