The downside for the boy is that looks in future girlfriends will be all anti-climactic from here. But 14 is a fine age to build the memory of a lifetime.
The closest I ever came to this was being awakened by Mrs. Marx in History class and bashing my head into her left boob. And that's not very close.

Regardless of what some may think, she threw her life away. While she did avoid prison and got the proverbial slap on the wrist,i.e., house arrest she can never teach again and has to register as a sex predator.
My question is if the teacher was male do you think he would have gotten such a light sentence? I think not, so I do believe the double standard is in play here.

The whole business of his cousing driving them around in a car is pretty weird and makes the sex seem at least somewhat consensual from the outside (with no details of course). In Canada the age of consent is fourteen, meaning that here this girl would probably lose her job but no more - she certainly wouldn't be registered as a sex offender.
If this boy had any part in 'getting it up' of his own volition, he should be ashamed for the rest of his life.....

Most job applications now ask if you've ever been convicted of a felony, and many companies now do background checks, so she's basically thrown her life out the window. She might be lucky to get a job at McDonalds.

Should I assume that you're kidding? Anyone who thinks that a reputation as a sex predator is isn't a bad thing has major issues and must be happy living on the extreme, outcasted, fringe of society - I really doubt that this girl falls into that category.

It's usually 14 here in Canada. Germany can be 14 too.
In other words, if she had lived in certain parts of Canada or Germany, she would not have been convicted as a sex offender. (She would have most likely still been kicked out of teaching though.) In fact, it looks like the same might have been true if she had lived in Iowa, Missouri, or South Carolina.

part of the plea bargin is for her not to profit from this, so no book/movie/talk show circuit.
Additionally she cannot teach or be near children so the career she trained and studied for is now over.
I assume this is a felon act so that in of itself carries problems, owning guns to voting. In one act she pretty much messed up her life, never mind the young life of the child she had sex with.

In more states than just those three. Not only does the age of consent vary from state to state, but in some states it doesn't even apply when the female is older than the male.

Because sexual abuse of a minor is not about sex, it is about power, control, and domination. If she wanted someone her own age who was a peer and an equal she certainly could have had that. If she wanted someone her own age to dominate, that might have been possible as well. But it was a guaranteed consideration--then she would be in a position of domination--when she takes up with a 14-year-old who is also her student.

I don't do the double standard thing usually but boys and girls are totally different when it comes to sex and having a 14 years old boy having sex is totally different than a girl. We do not have the feelings thing to worry about when it comes to boys and this one should be happy because all he wants to do at 14 is sports and sex.
