My girlfriend and I were talking and I was on my bed laying with my puppy, Cass, and I mentioned that her feet smell like corn chips or Fritos. No, she wasn't playing with Fritos with her paws. I've noticed this before.
Do any of your dogs have feet that smell like corn chips or Fritos?
What could possibly cause this? I'm truly wondering this and that's why I posted this thread.
Hope you're all having a great post-Thanksgiving day.

Seriously! I'm serious about this, Kevin!
My dog's paws smell like corn chips - is it an aberration naturally occuring in nature or is this a common phenomenon?

Yes dog's feet smell like cornchips/doritoes etc. Haven't you noticed this before?
Your feet probably would too if you didn't bath.

I do give her a bath, routinely, actually.
The corn chip smell remains regardless of bathing.

KeriVit:
(Your name always reminds me of a hand lotion, oddly enough. )
That's a great link.
I noticed that their dog is a sheepdog - so is mine. Different type, but a sheepdog nevertheless - an Australian shepherd.
Thanks!

Apparently, it's a pretty common "problem".... I'll have to smell my dogs' feet.
Keri is so very....

Okay, if your dog's feet DO smell like Fritos tell us where you dog goes and the weather where you live.
I live in a humid place, Florida, and she runs around on the grass here. Maybe that has something to do with it.
Hi, WD!

Our Basset Hound smells like Fritos too. It's common with hounds (Basset, Coonhound, Bloodhound, and even daschunds). Aloe wipes on fur and Nivea cream on pads helps. Bathe every 2 months, but no more or you give 'em dry skin.

My dog CANNOT go two months without a bath. NO WAY. It's too hot and humid here. She smells after a week, actually. I take her to the vet's grooming place for a once a week shower or I use the shampoo that they use and do it myself. It's very gentle and has glycerine in it.

You have discovered what they REALLY make Fritos corn chips out of.

I've always referred to Fritos as the original dog-feet flavored cornchip. I always assumed it was from running aound on grass with old dog pee and dog poo on it, but maybe it really is the smell of their feet!

I love the U.S., but we need some time apart.
