It is a public health issue after all. One has to be careful.

I would do an image search for pubic hair lice and post the "best" image in this thread, but I'm afraid to see the results from such a search.

That picture I would like to see. Or maybe best not. Guess that it was hilarious. Win any prizes?

I'll have to find it and scan it in. It was pre-digital camera days. You know, way back when they used that stuff called "film", or something like that. I won the grossest costume award.

I feel like Jon Stewart, providing this moment of zen:
Nonsense posts or threads have their place. But when that is all the person does, then yeah, I would understand him or her getting "suspended" from the lounge.
It's only "cute" up to a point. Then it gets annoying.

besson, I am talking about people that post nothing but silliness like that.
People doing it once in awhile isn't the problem.
It's the people that insist on posting nothing but, even after they have been told to stop, that is pissing the mods off.
I assure you, tooki can lock this till their in no tomorrow, and I wont start a fuss.

Try again.
Let's cut to the chase here. What IS your problem with Cubeoid? Is your time that valuable? I would bet it isn't, or else why bother with the Lounge? Just what are your expectations of the Lounge? I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that... wait for it... the lounge is designed for... uh... lounging around?
If you disagree with me, you still have 2 options:
1) Put him on your ignore list
2) Don't read threads that are started by Cubeoid. I know that it requires a lot of physical effort to scroll down past his thread, but I think you can handle it!
Again: what is your beef with him? What do you expect from this lounge? More threads about hot chicks? More threads about SUVs? Most of the threads here are a complete and utter waste of time to begin with, just what do you expect? Is the name of the lounge somehow misleading?
Get a life guys. You remind me of the comic book guy from the Simpsons. If your life is this badly in need of this sort of drama, maybe you should open a comic book store or something.
We could be pointing fingers at each other all day, firing back little witty retorts like this one. At the end of the day, this is a place where we all have to tolerate different personalities and considerations of what is important, what is inane, and what is funny.
BasketofPuppies: sorry if this is misdirected at you. Consider this post to all of those with sand up their vaginas about this.

What would motivate somebody to constantly post threads that didn't even make sense or seem funny to them? Think about it.

The motivation would be because said person think's it's cool to be such a rebel by posting threads the mods didn't want him too. Which happens alot. They don't know however, they are the but of teh joke!
It's also condescending pretentious type of "comedy" that the BBQ/Lifeboat whiners usually flame this forum with.
Well that and that g o a t s e x guy.

"We've SEEN THAT before... TIMELINE! You are an idiot"
"This person is wasting the internet, and wasting my time with his/her jokes. BAN HIM/HER"
"THIS IS IN THE WRONG FORUM AREA! This should be moved NOW. Stop wasting my time! I don't care if this subject *could* belong in the lounge. It smells remotely political, so it should be moved NOW! Mods? Where are you? Rescue us! Move this thread... NOW! I'm a busy man, I don't have time to read this tripe"
Some people just seem to be wound up so tightly about the most bizarre of things.

No, no I am not. I am pointing out you too are getting wound up too tight in this thread about the most bizarre things.
You also did it in the Hot Babes thread.
What you are complaining about is, you just don't like it when people do it about things you don't deem windup-able. But seem to think it's perfectly normal when you do it about things you do deem as such.
In other words, you don't like it when people complain about things you like, but you think it's ok to complain about things you dislike, or think is wrong.
That's ok though. It's what makes us human.

I see what you're saying. You thought my identifying what I thought was the objectification of women, and expressing my opinion over other issues in other threads was getting my knickers in a bunch over a bizarre issue?
Okay, but we are talking about two separate things. I'm talking about MacNN specific posting/moderating issues, not general "life" opinions. I try to tolerate as many general opinions as I can. You'll notice that I promptly left the Babes thread once I realized that nobody was interested in discussing what I wanted to discuss.
In my opinion, we still lack a clear collective understanding of the MacNN rules. Therefore, it was my intent to encourage people to back off of what I described above, or at least engage in conversation about this rather than just maintaining the status quo. It seems like there is some flexibility in here to create the environment that we want for ourselves. If people overwhelmingly were to say that they disagree with my opinions, and we should continue to post in a fashion similar to my prior examples, fine.
So far, I haven't run up against this brick wall yet. Nobody has seemed interested in discussing this but you and a couple of others.
I do hope you can see the difference here, and that it doesn't bog down this discussion.

No, I am also talking about you getting bent out of shape in this thread. My original point. Which IS you getting wound up on posting/moderation issues.
In my opinion, we still lack a clear collective understanding of the MacNN rules.
Not really. I think they are pretty clear. Esp when a mod says "don't do that anymore" and then someone does it again out of spite.
Not that I have never done this before, I HAVE! we all have. Well cept WDlove and a few others.
Therefore, it was my intent to encourage people to back off of what I described above, or at least engage in conversation about this rather than just maintaining the status quo. It seems like there is some flexibility in here to create the environment that we want for ourselves.
Yes, your intent was to stop, or change the way people react to certain things on MacNN.
If people overwhelmingly were to say that they disagree with my opinions, and we should continue to post in a fashion similar to my prior examples, fine.

Because most people really care less. It's just use wound uptight people. You know like you and me.
I do hope you can see the difference here, and that it doesn't bog down this discussion.
There is really not a difference. You see it as a difference because you are biased because it's something you feel that is different.
But it's really not.
I am sure others that are doing what you are complaining about ALSO see what they are doing is just, and different than what you are.
There are also more people that report stuff, and don't say anything about it, then there are people that report stuff, and go on and on about it.

You are doing the VERY SAME THING you are complaining about in this very post.
Complaining about how the forum is run, or mod choices, or how people react to posts.
Can you not see that?
Some people don't like the constant insencere silliness being posted in the lounge all the time by certain people so they complain.
So you complain about the way people aren't reacting the way you want them to, or MacNN isn't the way you want it to be because of this.
In other words, you are doing the same thing.

No you are complaining about the way others want MacNN run, while you want it run differently.
AKA "I hate it when people want NN to be run in a different way than I do"

I really don't know how much of this is just you looking for a fight, but I'll bite. I'm not complaining about MacNN mods. I'm not complaining about MacNN rules. I'm not complaining about anyone in particular, because I haven't mentally documented who all is doing this.
I'm complaining about people being snippy with others and who expect others to cater to writing the kinds of posts that they see acceptable, rather than just moving on and letting things be.
This is probably my last post on this subject, since it seems clear that we're talking past each other, and I'm sure you'll want to open this up to make this as broad and sustained an argument as you can.

I'm not looking for a fight really. You can ask my better half. If she starts arguing, I usually just let her win.
I'm not complaining about MacNN mods. I'm not complaining about MacNN rules. I'm not complaining about anyone in particular, because I haven't mentally documented who all is doing this.
No, you are complaining about how certain people want MacNN to be a way you don't want it to be. Just like they are doing.
I'm complaining about people being snippy with others who expect others to cater to the kinds of posts that they see acceptable, rather than just moving on and letting things be.
Like your post? Instead of moving on an accepting people aren't going to like everything you or people you were referring to do, especially the insincere condescending bit, you demand people just ignore it, and move on. It's the same thing. I have found comedy is funny in small doses. Take the HA HA guy. We over-did it. It no longer became funny. When people over-do things or constantly do the same thing people get annoyed (Like you probably are with me now) It's not the silly threads that are making people upset. But the SAME people posting the SAME insincere not funny posts over and over again gets old.
This is probably my last post on this subject, since it seems clear that we're talking past each other, and I'm sure you'll want to open this up to make this as broad and sustained an argument as you can.
No not at all. I am just trying to show you that you see what you are doing as different because you think you are right.
Others think what they are doing it different because they think they are right.
And you not seeing this is normal. It happens to me all the time.
Many times tooki or demon has showed me where I was doing the same exact thing I was reported someone else for. I am sure I STILL do it.
Sometimes I don't always agree with them, but they are probably right.
Thus is being human.
But I wont respond back to anymore posts.
Scouts honor.

Lice R Gone®

(Letter sent out by Teacher) December, 2004
Dear Principal,
As a teacher in SCUSD, I am sending you this public service announcement about a highly effective but poorly advertised product that safely and easily gets rid of lice. (I have no financial relationship with the company; my interest is in protecting kids from toxic chemicals.)
Not only are most lice shampoos risky for overall health, but body fat levels of pesticides are higher in kids who have symptoms of ADD---these chemicals affect the central nervous system and make our job much harder. Absenteeism correlates with low achievement. Then too, no school can afford the lost ADA income.
Lice R Gone is sold by Safe 2 Use in Apple Valley. They offer a school discount: a case of 48 single-use packets costs $127.20. That is a bit pricey, nearly $3 per application, but I suspect PTAs would be thrilled to cut lice infestations (and re-infestations) to zero by subsidizing the cost for kids who are diagnosed carriers.
The attachment is a page of information on Lice R Gone that you can download and print out to share with teachers, the school nurse, and concerned parents. Basically, Lice R Gone is an enzyme that breaks down the exoskeleton of lice. You can also read many more testimonials for yourself by going to
http://www.LiceRGone.com .

I really appreciate the shampoo. Our PTO fully endorses this product. I am continually telling other schools about it.
Thanks,

I recently purchased your product. We have had an ongoing problem with head lice, originating from the school here. I was at my wits end. I have got to say that your product worked just beautifully and without the worry of pesticides. My daughter has a thick head of hair and sensitive skin. We tried Rid and after I had rinsed it out, she cried that her head was burning. It was just awful, and in a few days the problem was back just as bad as before! I am very great full for your product. I do have one question however. I have noticed that after shampooing with it. When ever we have shampooed a day or two later with our regular shampoo, the peppermint smell comes back. I was wondering why this was? It is not a problem (and I might add very pleasant), I was just wondering.
Thank you again, K.M. , Oklahoma

Your product gave us the first relief we have had in four months! We are very pleased with it, and so glad that we are not using pesticides yet again, to no avail. The family members that introduced this pestilence into our home this summer will be back for the holidays, and we want to be pro-active. I'll also be passing along your company's information to them!

Thanks, again! Happy holidays to all of you. I know ours are already happier with the lice long gone!
