Well,
It's 1am CST and here I am redoing most of my apartment. I've grown tired of the old arrangement, and it wasn't the best use of space either. I had my sectional couch, entertainment center and computer work center all in my not-so-massive living room. So, I decided to spread things out a bit. The couch and the entertainment center are staying in the living room, but I can't seem to decide what to do with the computer.
Here's a poorly thrown together map of my apartment.
KKKKKKDDDDDD~~~~~BBBBBBBBB
K.......................D~~~~B..............B
KKKKKKK..........DHHHHB.............B
LLLLLLLLL........................BBBBBBBB
L.......................LHHHH....SSSSSSSS
L.......................L~S ................... S
L.......................L~S.....................S
L.......................L~ S....................S
LL--LL--LL *** L~ SSSSSSSS--SSS
MAP KEY
K = Kitchen
L = Living Room
D = Dining Room
H = Hallway
B = Bathroom
S = Sleeping Sector
-- = Window
*** = Front Door
~ = Void, ignore.
Now, the most logical thing to me initially was to put the computer in the dining room. It's an open area, since I don't have a table (who eats on them anywyas). And it'd allow me to show off my G5 since it'd be the first thing you see when walking in the door. But then it hit me that;
1) The dining room would be a bitch to wire because there isn't exactly a lot of outlets, namely the cable outlet. That could be worked around by running some cable though.
2) Do I really want my ramen noodle fumes getting sucked in by my G5 from the kitchen?
The next option is to put it in the bedroom, along the wall with the window since my bed is along the other long wall. It'd kill two birds with one stone since all I have in my bedroom is a bed and a bookcase. So putting it in there would save me the money I'd spend getting a rug or a poster or something to fill the voidness. But my work center is quite large and would have to be pretty much totally taken apart to be fit through the bedroom door.
Anyways, I figured I'd turn this into a call-for-help/general poll.
Where do you keep your computer? And where would you put mine?

Mine's in the study. If you have a study it's law that the computer goes there.
I don't make the rules.

I'm in college, in a 2br/2bth/living/kitchen apartment w/ 3 other roomates. Our computers are all in our rooms most of the time. WiFi is setup and 3 of us have laptops that we often bring into the living room, but in such an arangement the only place for a desk is really in the bedrooms.

I have nothing but a laptop, so it lives on my lap.

My house has a "formal dining room" that we chose to have built as a study; we have both of the desktops in there, and my wife's iBook usually sits on her desk in there. Right now, she's using the iBook on the dining table, and I'm using my Dell notebook sitting next to her-gotta love wireless networks!
We got the iBook expressly because my Dell turned out to be a pain to lug around in the case that came with it, and the iBook was (and IS) the most powerful and most portable laptop around for the money. She used it for her last year in school and it became her favorite computer ever. She was an instant switcher. Of course that means that I have to lug my Dell to school...but my new North Face pack makes it much less of a hassle.
Now as soon as a few issues fall into place, I will be getting a Mini, and it will sit on my desk in the study-and probably be my primary computer.
