Just make sure you can conceal it (like no suction cup marks on windshield). There are cops out there who will scrutinize you more once they see that you use a radar detector.

Cheap radar detectors are useless as they have very poor sensitivity and generate a lot of false alarms. You get what you pay for.

Also remember: they're not cop detectors. They only tell you if radar is being used nearby.
