First post
You've obviously never used a Mac. It does more and works more intuitively that you think. And you can still use 3rd party mice on it if you really need those extra buttons.
Response
I use them on a daily basis, and I know you can use 3rd party mice on it via USB. But I don't carry a two button mouse with me to campus , nor anywhere . Nothing beats the spinning wheel of death when OSX won't load. Granted, we fix more PC's on campuses than Mac's, but Mac's still come in with various hardware problems.

Biggest Problem w/ Hardcore Mac users = superiority complex. (Just the hardcore ones who sleep with Steve Jobs)

If you've ever worked at all in the IT field, you definately know how irate Mac users get when you insult Steve Job's holy grail of rotten apples. I'm not saying Mac's are crappy machines, but they aren't the most flexible machines around. If I can't build one from scratch and have to pay a middleman to make it (aka Apple), it isn't flexible. End of Story.

Cost/Benefit Analysis: If all you want to do is look at the exterior of a computer and note how pretty it is. Or if spending lots of money in your mind just justifies a good product (aka Bose) By all means, buy a Mac.

I'll stick with my PC running linux at a cheaper more effective cost per benefit ratio.
Is this guy talking out of his ass or what?

(I got a lot of PM's asking for me to post the link, well it's down below but I'll put it here too: http://forum.protestwarrior.com/view...13385#10213385)

Yeah, I'm gonna go with that option.

Uhh... is it just me or did this supposed "anti-Mac" guy say nothing offensive and nothing false?

I mean, I can see how he finds us Mac users to have a superiority complex- its because we're always talking about how great the Mac is because people have ATTACKED US for years. Not to mention the implied feeling of rejection we suffered in the past when a cool new software product came out but no one cared enough about us to make an Apple version.
And a lot of us do hero-worship Steve (although he has done a lot for us, he's stil not infallible). Cost benefit analysis? If you have a certain job to do and you need to get it done cheaply, you will probably be more successful hacking together a Linux box. If you are like me and tired of living like a starving college student or feeling like you are in poverty and would like a comfortable enjoyable user experience, you are more than willing to throw in a few extra bucks for a well earned luxury.

My only argument with him is that he claims Macs are only special because of their exterior. Whatever :rolleyes

But he does have a good point: if someone insults an Apple, we gather and crucify. And I bet the white Jesus is far more brutal with his buzz cuz, millitary boots, tats and hunting knife and rifle.

I found him to be much less annoying than James, although equally ignorant.

Whats up with that bullcrap about "oh well you're not in the TV industry and neither am I so you cant say that Firewire and Macs are popular in the TV industry." I mean, if its a fact, its a fact. Macs do indeed dominate the TV industry last I checked, and FireWire is the standard for digital video capture is it not?

Whatever. These people act like they know sh!t but they don't. They can just tell themselves that their PC is just as good as a Mac and that Macs "only look good nothing else" if it helps them sleep at night. But at the end of the day, their experiences don't matter to me one bit. Only mine do--and in my experience, Macs are superior in almost every way.

Not really, actually. FireWire doesn't have the bandwidth to be used for broadcast work, in most cases, although as compression gets better I think it's getting more common. Currently digital video is generally uncompressed or only slightly compressed and transmitted via SDI (or HD-SDI for high def)

You know, he's not really insulting Macs ... he's just saying that they're not perfect, which is perfectly reasonable. I may love my iBook and Mac Mini, but I'm not going to lie and say that Macs are the best machines around and that PCs are ****, nor am I going to try converting everyone I come into contact with.

He's right about PCs being more flexible than Macs -- that's just the hard truth. Both types of computers have their uses. I own both, and I enjoy using both of them. The superiority complex of *any* hardcore computer clique pisses me off.

Now ... elitist Linux zealots ... hooooly. Now there's something you shouldn't get me started about.

It must be harder and harder for them to come up with Mac bashing material lately.

They will gladly accept Mac users into their forums. Unless you consistently prove certain members wrong about certain things, then they will ban you for reasons like "pissing people off without breaking rules"

The guy who codes that aweful forum russ, has a big hardon for MS. He life and job revolves around MS.

So when anything bad about MS is brought up, he gets defensive.

Some of them remind me a bit of our James fellow.

Of course there was that time I saw where one member was bragging about paying young asian women for sex overseas in another forum... .

Touchy subject over there.

From reading the thread title, I was expecting a poignant and cynical exposure of so many Mac users' tendency to get up in arms about uncouth assertions of nameless fools on irrelevant discussion boards, when they dare speak untruth (perceived or otherwise) about the Cult of Mac.

That expectation has been so sadly and violently fulfilled...congratulations.

Depends on your intentions.

I used to go to ihateapple.com just to make fun of them.

When the iMac came out we'd post how it was faster than ANY pc EVER! Even though we knew it wasn't true. It would just rile them up.

Actually we (it was a joint effort) was posting it as a JOKE. It just so happened they took it seriously.

And it IS a hate site you know.
