Santa swings from a tree.
No, not the Santa that pulls his pants down in the mall.
A large blindfolded Santa hanging from a noose from a high tree in a man's yard has angered homeowners in a Florida neighborhood, according to a Local 6 News report.
The Santa doll, which neighborhood children can easily see, was put up by homeowner Ron Stroia at his home located on 555 West 50th Street in Miami Beach, the report said.
"It's just wrong, I mean who would want their children to see this, and it reminds adults of lynching," neighbor Estelle Farnsworth said. "It's just nasty, there is no spirit of Christmas in this."
The Santa also has his hands and legs bound by some type of wire.
"Now the kids are sad with that, you know, because they say it's not fair with Santa," neighbor Tanira Giacian said. "Santa should be around bringing their gifts, looking for the gifts, and not hanging on a tree. They're just kind of scared of that."
Since the display was put in the tree, neighbors have called police to get it removed, but officers said there is nothing they can do because the homeowner is protected under the First Amendment, Local 6 News reported.
Stroia would not talk with reporters, but did say by telephone that it's his right to display the Santa whether neighbors like it or not.
"This has really caused a big stir in the neighborhood, this is just cruel," Farnsworth said.

One part of me thinks this is amusing.
One part of me thinks that the guy is an artist and he's venting about how Christmas is being ruined by the leftists who seek to destroy all that is American and religious.
One part of me think that the guy is just a sick bastard.
Hmmmm...

You must have missed: "Because its a made-up holiday that forces us to run out and blow our money and gorge ourselves, all to the delight of retailers."
Of course it could just be another leftist bastard/grinch trying to steal christmas from the poor downtrodden right/whos.

Hi Cody,
It's wonderful to see you again. It's important that we stand fast against the left.

Wait - Santa Claus as the Christmas guy was an invention made by Coca-Cola in the 1950s. (St. Nick had nothing to do with Christmas.)
Now, hanging Santa from a tree is somehow anti-CHRISTIAN sentiment?
If anything, it should be the Christians rallying against the commercialization of their Lord's holiest festival, as epitomized by Santa Claus.
I applaud whoever hanged that Santa for standing fast against the enemies of the Lord.
**** you guys, I'm going home.

A lot of the flack from this unfortunate display lands on the shoulders of the innocent children. They haven't been properly taught what death is, and that's the parent's fault.
How do you explain what death is to your children? Kill one, then grab the other and go, "See?"
A lot of needless confusion can be avoided in this way.

Not that she said anything about CHRISTIAN. His rant was anti-Christmas in general.

Well, the Anti-Christian sort of developed between the lines.

Widely celebrated in Europe, St. Nicholas' feast day, December 6th, kept alive the stories of his goodness and generosity. In Germany and Poland, boys dressed as bishops begged alms for the poor—and sometimes for themselves! In the Netherlands and Belgium, St. Nicholas arrived on a steamship from Spain to ride a white horse on his gift-giving rounds. December 6th is still the main day for gift giving and merrymaking in much of Europe. For example, in the Netherlands St. Nicholas' Day is celebrated with the sharing of candies (thrown in the door), chocolate initial letters, small gifts, and riddles. Dutch children leave carrots and hay in their shoes for the horse, hoping St. Nicholas will exchange them for small gifts. Simple gift-giving in early Advent helps preserve a Christmas Day focus on the Christ Child.

She's got that right. Santa has NOTHING to do with Christmas. Christmas is about the birth of Jesus and not some fat guy in a red suit created by Coca Cola in the 1930's to sell more Coke.

Santa is destroying the religious aspect of Christmas. Ask any kid these days what Christmas is and all you'll hear is "PRESENTS!!!" Very few if any will make any mention of the religious aspect of it. I'm still surprised that churches haven't spoken out against Santa since Santa is just a massive scam and is destroying the real meaning of Christmas.
I do think he was trying to make a point about how capitalist Christmas has become. I personally hate the commercialized Christmas and just spend time with friends and family and gifts are optional and are usually quite small. Hell most of the gifts from stores now that are sold, rarely benefit local producers as most products are imported from overseas. I feel a better use of money for gifts would be to donate it to some charity (like the local childrens hospital for example).

Same here. She's 4 though. I'm not religious, but she might as well know why we (loose term) celebrate Christmas. Last year she wanted to get Jesus a cake or present (can't remember) because it was his birthday.
