I subscribe and I think it's worth it. Mostly for the movie reviews of games and message boards. Even though the message boards are mostly full of 19 year old fanboys.
It's $20 a year, or about the same cost a a magazine subscription. I get a lot more use out of IGN then I do out of any magazine I subscribe to.
It also works fine with Safari. For me anyway.

i have a subscription. i subscribed a year or two ago because of the e3 video content and i decided to stay because you can disable the ads that you have to click through and the video reviews and videos on the site. they have good download speeds too.
i find it worth it.
