Anway so the air marshals actually did their job yesterday.
Of course, it was tragic 'cause the 'suspect' turned out to have been unarmed, and mentally ill.

Now folks are bit@hing about how this is an unjust action....

Anyone who needs medication to stay connected to reality, and who skips it, is not doing himself any favors. His wife should have helped him GET that medication and stay on it. It's no excuse, but it's sad that skipping his meds got him that messed up. And of course, what's to stop some actual bomber from having someone shout "he's mentally ill and hasn't had his medication!" all the way until he pulls the pin and sets off his bomb?

If ANYONE at an airport tells me to get on the ground, I'm hugging carpet faster than anyone else! I hope everyone takes from this the message that air marshals are not a joke and WILL shoot your ass if they feel it's necessary.

The Marshal did what he was supposed to do, what he was trained to do and what he should have done. The mentally ill man was at fault, no matter his mental state. Its unfortunate, but thats the breaks. I'm sure his wife will sue someone though.

I don't know if I'd call the man necessarily at fault -what with being mentally ill and all- but I certainly wouldn't blame the air marshal. He did what he was supposed to do, and by any standard the system worked. It is unfortunate that a sick man was caught in the middle, but that's not anyone's fault. Sometimes you have to make snap decisions. The marshal did the best he could with the information he had at hand, and I hope he never regrets what he did for a day in his life.

Now, all of this said, what the hell was this guy doing on a plane if he was off his medication and prone to psychotic episodes? It seems he had family with him; why didn't they either make sure he took his meds or kept him off of the plane? They don't seem to have been surprised that he acted this way, so what made them think he was in any condition to travel? I'm not necessarily trying to blame them either, but if anyone could have kept this from happenning it would have been them.

If the guy is bipolar, and if he gets this way when he is off his meds, he needs to have someone making sure he takes his meds all the time. Or he needs to take a boat next time he travels internationally.

The Air Marshalls did the right thing and no one can say otherwise. They identified themselves, ordered the suspect to lie down, he refuses and makes a motion like he is going for a weapon/trigger. So, they put him down . . . permanently.

This wasn't a case of mistaken identity or faulty information. As far as the Marshalls know they have a man threatening a plane full of people with a bomb. They stopped this potential threat; Unfortunately it took lethal force to do so.

For the true bad guys who might think of trying to pull something similar on a plane they now know there are people on board who can and will take them out. For those persons out there with friends or family that are mentally unstable they got a good lesson in the necessity of keeping their loved ones on their meds.

I have insider information via media and the only thing I can say is this:

This is the most accurate depiction of what happened.

Those air marshals are out of control.

The guy NEVER used the word, "Bomb."

I'll tell you something - this is the information that will come out later - it was ANOTHER PASSENGER that made a comment about a bomb when the guy was freaking out. Another passenger, a smartass, made the comment, "Whoa, maybe he's got a bomb or something." He thought he was being funny.

Well, the air marshal heard SOMEONE say "bomb" but it wasn't the victim who died.

Read the article. One passenger, another innocent bystander, picked up his cell phone to call someone and the air marshal came up behind him AND PUT A GUN TO HIS HEAD.

The air marshal also pointed a gun at a little girl.



They are WAY out of line.

Let me tell you something about Miami. I fly out of there frequently and so does my son (he goes back and forth to visit relatives in Europe about 4 times a year) and I bring my kids to the airport with me.

Well, about 2 months ago I went and I was running late. I walked up to the screener screening people and I said, "Here's $20. Can you screen us quickly through first class instead?" They then walk you (and first class people) over to first class or special (celebrity) screening. I do it all of the time.

He said, "I can do better than that. Just follow me." He led me through airport security, around the entire screening process, and let me go to my gate. Yep. $20 bought me a "Go Straight to Go" pass. No security.

What a joke this whole thing is. Figures it would happen in Miami. Same place where the pilots were flying drunk.

The entire aircraft goes into lockdown after any incident. The reason is that someone may have accomplices. Cell phones have been used to trigger bombs (such as in Madrid.) Someone picks up a phone in a lockdown he's lucky not to get shot. I'm glad someone noticed and did put a gun to his head. Common sense folks. Lockdown means sit there and be quiet. I'd be very surprised if they didn't have the entire plane put their hands on their heads.

On another note, this is why I don't fly. **** the airlines and their stupid security measures. If they are looking for terrorists, they need to search Arabs. There are very few, if any, non-fatal AND incapacitating means of stopping someone on an airplane. If you shoot someone in the arm that still leaves them one free arm to pull a gun or trigger a bomb. If you need to stop someone from blowing up an airplane the best way to do is is to stop the person from doing anything.
