I say we go back to hangings. I'm not sure why we go out of our way to make it so pleasant. Is that to try to offset the fact that we're killing someone?

If you ask me things over in the states are slightly ****ed up!
There are people, including Bush, who want to stop women having abortions because it is taking a life, and yet the death penalty is still very much in effect.

See, you have to give them a running start before you kill them. Otherwise it's just not sport.

I've noticed that just about every story about Williams being "reformed" points out that he's been "nominated" for a Nobel prize. So? ANYONE can be nominated. He certainly hasn't WON a prize. And reformed or not, he was still convicted of murder; unless there is some sort of extenuation or exculpatory evidence, then being a "changed man" is no reason for the sentence to be altered.
Wouldn't that be one heck of a cop out? "In the moment I blasted his brains across the room, I learned a valuable lesson, and I never even considered doing such a thing again; I changed in that moment." Yeah, right. If he'd done something like dismantle the gang he founded, managed to establish peace in LA neighborhoods, or even got something like that started, that would be something worth considering. But he hasn't. Sorry.
