The "White Christmas" album by Bing Crosby, for beating your children to.

"Let it Snow" and "Silver Bells" by Dean Martin, for those who drink a bit too much of the nog.

"Christmas in Jail" by the Youngsters, ditto.

"Santa Baby" by Eartha Kitt, needs no explanation.

"Sleigh Ride" by Ferrante and Teicher, I can't help but think of Jon Voight when I hear this.

"Blue Christmas" by Elvis, Christmas to snow to cocaine to Elvis.

"Carol of the Bells" on the "A Most Excellent Organs and Chimes Christmas, Vol 2" album. Creepy.

The piano reduction of the "Nutcracker Suite" performed by Martha Argerich. Everyone expects the nutcracker, but no one expects this fantastic version.

"Herbert Von Karajan - A Christmas Concert" and "Aquitania: Christmas Music from 12th century Aquitanian Monasteries"

Wow, music actually about the birth of Christ, that's ironic.

Lastly, "The Chipmunks Song (Christmas Don't Be Late)".

Okay, that's not ironic.

Shout-outs: Cpt. Kangarooski for the "☧". iTMS, where all of this (except for "Christmas in Jail") is available. Whoever's iMix had the Nutcracker album.

According to the Character Pallete, that's "CHI RHO". I believe it's a Catholic symbol for Jesus.

I remember because when Windows XP came out, a Catholic friend pointed out to me that XP in Greek is Chi Rho, and indeed, a lot of XP's new features over Windows 2000 came from an old, scrapped MS project from the 90's named "Cairo", which incidentally is pronounced just like "Chi Rho".

So apparently, Windows XP was supposed to be the second coming...

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!

As CharlesS said, it's the Chi-Rho, which is a monogram of Jesus. It's formed from the first two letters of his name, which in Greek looks like this:

Edit: By the way, this is how the abbreviation "Xmas" came about - X is a common abbreviation for "Christ", due to the Greek spelling. It's used, for example, in the abbreviation "Xtian" (meaning "Christian"). The use of "Xmas" has recently fallen out of favor with many Christians who are unaware of its origins and think it's a secular symbol.

I thought it was Xmas because Jesus died on a cross.

On a music related note, you need some Slade in there. Look them up, british pop/rock from many years ago. You'll love it.

That fact didn't hurt X's cause. But if that were the only reason, we'd be calling it "tmas".

We don't know for sure. Exactly HOW the cross looked is stil not decided among historians and scholars. It seems like our traditional cross t cross is the more unlikely, more likely is a T cross.

Wasn't Malcom X a Muslim?

I'm so confused.

Except that the Chi-Rho symbol (as well as the habit of using chi to symbolise Christ[ianity]) predates the Greek minuscule (especially as they look in Modern Greek); so his name would read ΧΡΙΣΤΟΣ, rather than χρίστος.

Yes, but at any rate, it didn't look like an X.

People were crucified on an "x" shape though.

Not saying Jesus ΧΡΙΣΤΟΣ was, just thought it might be interesting execution chat.

I enjoy all the Classic Christmas songs.

This playlist went over like gangbusters at the GF's family ☧-mas Eve shindig.

I added the Boston Baroque's version of Handel's "Messiah", so it clocked in at about 6 hours total. Wall to wall baby ☧, with no repeats!

Take note for next year people.

Brian says (9:16 AM): I was looking at houses in Ottawa... I actually have a temptation in me to move
Jeff ******* says (9:19 AM): Eww, Ottawa is gross. It's infested with politicians, and presently, 1 Harper as well.

I'm viewing from a PC and Internet Explorer right now... all I get is an outline of a square for that shape.
And on Firefox for Windows, its simply a "?" instead.

A lowercase t? Man, making people bend their legs back up on the curly part at the bottom must've been the worst part.
