Looking for some tidbits about the area. Some good rentals to live in (professional, not students). Some areas to avoid maybe.

Avoid New Brunswick, thats what you should do. Look into Highland Park, it's where I'm at and it's not too bad.

Did you land a gig at J&J or RU ?

Not for me, although I might follow sometime. J&J would not be bad. What's up with Highland Park that's better than New Brunswick?

A simple visit to the area(s) will be all you need to see why you should move to HP.

New Brunswick is pretty much a party at all hours, which unless you're 18 and into it, that sucks. As well, since it is pretty much a college only town, the rent is really, really high.

For example: In the 'Bruns my gf was sharing a tiny, bug filled apartment with 2 people for 1500 dollars a month. This place was so bad you'd be embarrassed to have people over. We now Live in HP in a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom, living room, full kitchen, sun room, deck, and two studios (we both make art for a (partial) living) for the same money. You can find really decent 1 bedroom places for about 6-800 depending on the size.

I can see rutgers (where we both work for our real jobs) from the porch. And some days it's actually faster for me to walk there than it is to drive.

A good place to find available apartments is here.
