Curtain Call: Eminem's saving grace?

I think at this point, it's pretty clear that Eminem is saying goodbye to his rap persona. However, I was quite disappointed with his album "Encore", as were a lot of fans and critics.

However, his album Curtain Call contains a couple of new singles, "Shake That" and "When I'm Gone", which are both quite good (especially the latter).

If Eminem is done, do you think that these new singles will ensure that he goes out on a high-note? I do, in fact I think they are almost as compelling as Lose Yourself, etc.

Resting? If he takes a few years off, he'll be 40 by the time he returns. At that point he won't have anything compelling to rap about.

It's admirable to see that Eminem has choosen family over fame, at least of the time. At this point in his career, he has given us much to listen and cheer for, but raising his daughter and niece are priority. As much of a punk as he was in the beginning, it's great to see that he has his head on straight.

I hated Encore, but like his current album. His earlier stuff was absolutely dynamite.

I thought all of his music sucked. He reminds me of Weird Al with potty mouth.

When I am *VERY drunk I can nearly perfectly immitate Eminem's rap style. It's very easy to match his cadence and bad rhyming. My friends (who are ***HUGE Eminem fans) thought it was hilarious. Alas, when sober, I rap about as good as Margret Thatcher.

You think When I'm Gone is good?? Sounds like another Eminem Angry Song® to me, oh well. I think the best stuff was definitely the early stuff, but I'd hardly call When I'm Gone going out on a high.

His music is definitely sounding very stale, nothing new. The same type of anthem and beat. It was fine for his first couple of albums but now, its old. Plus his complaining (in his lyrics) seem a little off, his life materialistic was is pretty far out there. He can afford anything and do anyhting for the rest of his life. For us mere mortels we need only get ahead by the sweat of our brow.
