How do they show previews of upcoming shows with guests days prior to the actual viewing? I thought these shows are taped the same day as they air.

Those are shots from previous visits, until after 5:30 EST when they show shots from the taping that same day.

It seems like they have on the same clothes and everything. This has been driving us crazy.

On Thanksgiving, my in-laws went to a taping of the Letterman Show. I know that it was shown that night, but I did see outside the theater that they only tape Mon through Thurs. It seems then that at least one night a week must be pre taped.

It's never pre-taped for different days of the week - it's ALWAYS the same day. I've been to tapings. Like I said, after 5:30 the promos change. For example, Jack Black was shown earlier that day on CBS in NY, and then later that night a DIFFERENT promo from that taping was used.

Welcome to 2000. Ever since Dave's bypass surgery, he's taped multiple shows on a single day. Initially it was five shows in four days and now it's five shows in three days.

They all air within a week of taping.

I heard they tape 2 episodes on thursday (Friday's not being live).

Saturday (yesterday) afternoon we saw a preview of Jim Carrey on Dave's show for this Monday. He was wearing a black or dark shirt and did some big closeups on the camera. Will be watching to see what happens.

Watching Letterman. It appears the preview we saw Saturday with Jim Carrey was from the show tonight. This would mean the show was taped.

And by the way Starman. The Chiefs did paint the Meadowlands red.
