"Intel is the master of helping its partners sell computers, in part by helping them foot the bill for advertising. If you're Dell, Hewlett-Packard, Gateway, Toshiba, or IBM, the more you advertise, the more you sell. And the more you sell, the more you want to advertise to sell more."

Don't think Apple wants a crusty logo next to their beautiful one.

I don't think they'll push it. It's not Apple's style.

I know intel offers huge payoffs if you use the intel logo or jingles in ads.

I did banner ads for Compaq years ago and if they put the intel Logo at the end of the banner ad intel would pay 20% of all advertising costs.

Not a chance. Apple won't be sticking that horrendous 'ding' at the end of there finely crafted, high production value 'Mac' ads. They also wouldn't be interested in associating there computers with whatever current chip Intel is pushing.
The laptops (iBook and Powerbook) would look somehow inferior as they probably wouldn't have that 'Centrino' thing, that all the new other laptops have, as I can see Apple still pushing it's own Airport WiFi tec.

Apple probably solicited offers from Intel as a chip replacement supplier. As part of the deal, I bet Apple required that Intel NOT advertise on the surface of the machine or in their advertisements. Plus, did you see an Intel logo on the machine that Steve used in the keynote?

I don't see a problem with that. It's not like it's some flashy badge on the case of the computer.

Another reason it seems unlikely: in all those years that computers have been emblazoned with the logo and ads have been tagged with the chime, most of the machines that have been associated with the Intel Inside branding have shipped with Windows. It's not necessarily what Intel intended to push, but I think people associate that branding with Wintel.

Putting it in ads for a machine that's supposed to be seen as the alternative to suffering through MS hell is bound to be a little confusing to some consumers. I think Apple might prefer to stand out.

Plus, I'd be really surprised if Jobs or Ives even let anyone discuss putting it on the case. Can't see them bucking the minimalist trend now.

thats what i was thinking, like say an intel inside logo that you can barely see - or you have to look at it at the right angle to see it - maybe do a flashing logo when your mac is asleep? i dunno

Yes, and I hope that they start listing prices and specs during the commercial. Also I want them to start making "funny" commercials with hillarious dude-get-a-Dell style comedy. Maybe they should call this character the "Mac Daddy" and he goes around slapping the hot bitches that use XP, and he could beat them with a cane until they switch to Mac.

After all, hipster doofuses represent the largest pool of potential Mac switchers, so i think that this "Mac Daddy" could definitely appeal to them.

If Apple puts an "Intel Inside" sticker on their computers, I'm sure they'll be at least a few more - like "Energy Star Compliant", "Built for OS X", and the usual host of idiotic stickers that Windows users mindlessly keep on their machines for an eternity.

I also hope that Apple won't use that Intel sticker. Would like to see Apple advertise the Mac more.

Apple runs advertisements? Not on television, at least in the markets I'm familiar with.

I think Intel will get the same treatment as IBM and Motorola before them.

The brand is Apple.

And it is good to have options. Which they will still have for quite awhile. It will be interesting to see IBM and Intel processor machines sitting side by side at the store.

I think the only Words you will see anywhere in this scenario are Apple and Mac and for a long time to come.

If this happens it will become my life mission to stage guerilla attacks to remove the stickers on all Macs I can find. I will distract the unsuspecting Apple owners by yelling, "Look there's Steve Jobs". Then, while they anxiously peer in the other direction I will swiftly, yet ever so carefully scrape the sticker off with a plastic scraper to return the rightful dignity to their machine.
Or I'll just shake my head in sadness and return on my other quest for the best pizza.

But I don't understand it! I bet same people keep these stickers on their TVs, DVDs, fridges etc. Maybe it's a social disease. I have some family members that do this, and it's really starting to agitate me. I once attempted to remove an Energy Star sticker from a 5 year old TV and damn nearly got crucified over it.

Everyone I know with stickers on their laptops seems to think it's like... part of the machine. That said I could see Apple putting the Intel emblem on the box, and perhaps Intel's logo in their adds but not on the machines themselves.

In fairness to clueless windoze laptop owners, the stickers are stuck on there pretty hard, and they don't feel as though they are supposed to be taken off.

Stickers suck! I cant imagine Apple putting lame stickers on their computers. its simply not the Apple thing to do. But i do envision something interesting to show that there is an intel chip running the computer. It might not be on the surface, but it might be somewhere on the computer.

On a laptop it might be under the keyboard, or under the battery. On the desktops it might be something resembling how it is right now. Where you have to remove the metal cover to actually show its a G5.

Well, in time we shall find out.
