Very nice, I already have season 1 and I'll be sure to buy season 2. Miami Vice was nothing but brilliant.

I'll see the movie most likely, but it isn't likely to work. Miami Vice was not about plot, but characters and feel. It was the MTV copshow.

The movie looks and sounds and feels.. nothing like the TV series it is named after. It is kind of sad to see how badly Michael Mann treats his legacy. One has come to expect this. Take George Lucas for instance.

Looks like it will feel like Collateral. (well duh same director) He is using a mix of digital and film again.

I have a feeling it's gonna be awesome. For now though, I just want a proper high quality QT download of the damned trailer.

Wasn't there one available on the site you linked?

Anyway, Collateral looked liked a nice warmup to Miami Vice, so I'm psyched. Plus it doesn't look like it's stuck in 80's nostalgia. That might have been difficult (and cheesy).

Miami Vice *is* 80s. That series damn well made half of men's fashion of that decade. The looks, the colors, the music.

Remove all that and its just a name and a cop-show. Meh. Miami Vice and 80s cannot be seperated. (also Colin Farrel and Jamie Foxx? )

cheers

It's a great show.

I saw the trailer before King Kong (which I loved). Wow. It looks like they're going to do it right. Mann is still in charge, the music, though new, is "right," and the whole style looks spot on. Yes, and there are also explosions, boat chases, and gunfights in there. Yep. I'm there.

I just don't feel the same.. I was a huge fan when the show was out, I was a young lad, around 12 years old or so. I went to a few episode tapings, met Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas, sat in their limo, sat in the white Ferrari Testarossa, hung out on the sailboat that the gator lived on, etc. I even have a copy of the episode's script - signed by Tubbs.. he even wrote me a poem!

Miami Vice to me is simply about cool.

Besides, the current Miami is more pleasing to the eye. So are the exotic automobiles and women!

Name one bad thing Michael Mann has done.

I can't. Especially considering these movies:
Heat
The Insider
Collateral
The Last of the Mohicans
and the list goes on

The guy's a genius.

His style is great. In my opinion, "Heat" is his masterpiece.

Numb, by Linkin Park. Pretty inspired choice, I wouldn't have gone back to this band to look for trailer music, but it was sweet in the trailer.

EDIT: Found the exact song, which is a mix of Numb by Linkin Park and Encore by Jay-Z. Download it here: Download

EDIT 2: Hmm not quite the same, I think they mixed that with the "instrumental" version on the same disk.

And yes, Michael Mann is pretty damn amazing, it'd be a huge upset to his entire career if Miami Vice wasn't great. PS, didn't he produce the TV series?

I grew up watching Miami Vice, I think Michael Mann is one of our great directors and I think I will like this movie but this should be a period piece and Farell is the wrong choice IMHO.

The beat is blazin. Anybody know where to get it? The looped song on the web page and not the one with Jay-Z.

Remakes are always a tricky bet. But this remake sounds really good. I'm sure it'll be on the movie's soundtrack.

Damn, I can get this sound out of my head. It makes you want to chill with a fat scobar(cigar) in one hand and a nice drink in the other.
