I still use my ICQ account with Miranda at work. I remeber installing ICQ shortly after it came out, it was so awesome. I have a couple of 6 digit accounts in the 100k range.

Yeah, it was cool because it would store messages on their server for offline users. When they logged back on they would get it.

Some people still use ICQ for that reason. The offline thing.

If they are using a modern ICQ client, I can add them on my iChat or Adium list and speak to them that way.

I have ICQ up now and then when I just want to talk to a specific person.

And yeah, the way ICQ works is better than AIM. Saddly.

So does Yahoo.

Yahoo does that too. That's why I prefer Yahoo to AIM.

I use ICQ a lot still. About 3 dozen contacts; we don't email, we ICQ. Still very popular among my friends/family.

Well it all depends on your email style. My dad used to talk about having email "conversations" with people at work, where each email was rarely more than a line of text.

Remember your old user name? Then search for it on ICQ. It was pretty easy for me to recover my account, because my net-identity is euphras since years

ICQ's problem was that it became hideously bloated. It did TOO much. It was cool to have birthdays, etc., but after a while it got into groups which were VERY hard to navigate, the web site was a dog, and it just got to the point where it collapsed under its own weight.

Adium so far has the best of everything. It does the multiple servers thing very well.

When I heard iChat was going to support that, I was excited.

But then I saw the implementation and was horribly disappointed.

Separate Window for none AIM/.Mac users, and it was dodgy at best.

I wish Apple could get the multiple IM protocol thing down like Adium.

I really like iChat.

I tried Adium, but I don't like it. I miss too many of the platform-specific goodies that each client has.

The hug me Cubeoid was very nice. He is a friend of mine. In my dictionary gay means happy and always will. Calling him homosexual is wrong. He is a very lively and friendly person. His preference is for females.

ICQ is still my favourite and most used chat application. MSN is bloody annoying (and aMSN ****s up too much with random chat windows popping up, and I detest multi-client programs), and iChat still is a bloody nuissance despite some of the good aspects about the application.
