They used to be pretty good. They appear to be missing a major part of the show these days.

Sigh... yeah it would be fun to see, but not quite the same.
Beats me doing the karaoke versions of all their songs.

I saw them four times in the 70s. Freddy Mercury playing on the piano as it rises from underneath the stage on hydraulics. Back then "We will rock you" was such a rush for pep rallies at my h.s.. Great shows.
I would tend to agree to the "No Freddy no Queen" statement, but you never know.

I was due to go and see them in Hyde Park, London, but due to the bombings on 7th July it was put off to the next week, by which time my parents were to overprotective to let me go up to London (i was only 15). But one of my mates did still go, and he being a similar age to me was not around when good ole' Freddie was, and thought the concert was really good. I think for people like me who were not around when Freddie was, but loves the music of Queen, this tour is a pretty good way of experiencing at least some of Queen.

Saw them in 1978 around the 'We Are The Champions' time and also later in 82, 84, 86. The later gigs were not so good and Freddie degenerated imo with the 'village people' image and the moustache (people were throwing razor blades onto the stage).
But that first gig was the best I ever went to of any band and I have seen many of the big names. Possibly though this was because it was also the first I went to.
One thing I would say is that this new tour might possibly be good. The thing about Queen was the relentless energy, personality and stage presence of Freddie and as people said above, without this they are nothing BUT I hate the idea of comeback tours and was particularly appalled at this one (Mercury must surely be the one frontman you would never try to replace) but I recently by mistake heard this new line-ups version of 'Tie Your Mother Down' and it was awesome - totally different and doesn't even try to be like the old one. It's a new song in fact. Harder-edged.
If you can get past the idea that 'it should be Freddie', forget it's Queen and just take it as seeing a new band then I would say it might probably be better than 90% of the gigs you could go to.
