Does your current car insurance cost you a small fortune? If so, post your frustration/rant.

Too much, but I live in Massachusetts.

$497 euros or something like that, a year. As good as full coverage. But it's registerd under my mother's name because the rate would be impossible to pay for me (19 year old).

Same as Rickey939, more or less.

Geico.

Full coverage, $100 deductible, 2-year old (almost) Chevy Suburban, 1998 Ford truck, 2003 Saab Turbo convertible.

I love Geico.

When our Nissan got smashed by hurricane Frances they were there the very next day, wading through the water, to hand us a check and tell us that we had a month for a rental car, paid for by them, if we needed it. Awesome company.

A $500 deductible is a little bit outrageous, no ?

I guess it depends on whether or not he has traffic tickets? Or an accident?

We have had neither for 10+ years.

Driving a Suburban or a truck kind of doesn't make you want to race around. The Saab is at my other house and garaged and isn't really driven.

I got mine set to be 500 too. I saved about 15.00 a month because of that. I break even after 13 months. Every month after that im saving money. Also most things that would be under a 1000.00 to fix are things I wouldn't even claim, like say a windshield, is about 350, I would have only saved 50.00 and to many claims raise the insurance. If my car is stolen I have a special package that pays the deductible. So adding 200.00 to the standard 300 deducible as long as I did have a accident for 13 months I come out ahead. Over years its a big savings. My goal is to stay accident free for life but assume I get 5 years, I save about 900.00 and since im putting the savings in a savings account, not only will I have the money for the 500 deductible, I will have 400 more bucks for additional money. Once I save a 1000, I might change to a higher 1000 deductible depending on the savings I get. I’ll never claim anything unless it’s a decent amount of money because long term small claims add up to more long term costs later.

1200 / year wtih two drivers and three cars.
100 deductible.
Also pay a couple hundred extra for the umbrella coverage of 1 million.

Gotta love USAA. I remember paying 2200 for 1 car by myself back in college. While age/marital status and such makes a big difference, I don't think anyone can beat USAA. This is also evident when we get marketing calls from others such as Geico, etc... I just tell them we have USAA... "oh, thanks. Have a good one" is usually their reply.

Those must be pretty bad drivers, hope that $12,000 a year keeps them off the road

For $12K a year can't you just take a taxi or a limo wherever you need to go?

Heck, an annual bus pass around my parts is about $350.

Actually, my discount will come in late March where it will be ~$1800 a year. The $500 deductible not only saves me money, but it also is normal for people of my age group and driving record.

I pay around $1200 every six months for two cars and three drivers. Having an 18-year-old male on the policy does that.

With the possible exception for Mindwave, I see that none of you live in California.

Even through Geico:

$1100 a year -

Liability only
No uninsured motorist coverage
Minimum medical coverage
Minimum proptery coverage

You people make my cry with your $1200/year for full coverage on 3 cars.
