For software, you have to order online. For hardware, I *think* they allow student discounts in-store.

For Apple only products.

That doesn't work because the high schools are not listed in the point of sale software.

College students can get discounts on Apple hardware in Apple Retail Stores by bringing some proof of being a student. College students can get discounts on software by buying online.

High school students and younger are not eligible for student discounts, though their institutions are.

Didn't matter (also, for the record, only hardware discounts are offered in the retail stores). In order for Apple to give the edu discount on anything, the school had to be in the POS system and at least for us in St. Louis, the high schools were not listed. Of course, exceptions were made when parents and kids went absolutely ballistic and caused a huge scene. But, for the most part, we didn't give discounts to high school students for any products.

In retail stores only on computers and i think just ipods, no accessories. I tried scoring the EDU discount on the in-ear ear buds at the SoHo store but they didn't give it to me even though I knew my campus reseller could get me 5 bucks off retail.

BTW its just as easy to order online through your schools educational web site. Find your university or college here. Just click to buy as a student.

http://store.apple.com/Catalog/US/Im...utingpage.html

you will get discounts on everything that apple offers EDU discounts on, software is the biggest thing they mark down 700 bucks off FC Studio. 600 off FCP 5.

Also check out your university computer store, if they deal with apple in anyway they can get the exact same deal as online.

if you have any other questions email me, (BTW check out the sig, cheap plug)

Oh! You guys are right. In high school I always shopped as a staff memember because the school considered me one. Brain fart.

If you go to the Apple retail store, the educational discount is only on Apple products, no 3rd party. So if you want an education discount on a 3rd party product, you have to order it through their website (assuming it's on sale.)

I am almost sure that the apple EDU site doesn't offer any discount on 3rd party products, also why would they?

I was trying to get the apple inline remote that they offer 5 bucks off retail with the edu discount.

Yes I have received an educational discount on Apple Products at my local Apple Store.
