Big day for FireFox, Dell's now bundling it with new computers and laptops.

If Dell really had balls, they'd hide, move, or delete Internet Explorer from the machines all-together.

Remove the icon from the Desktop, and put FireFox there instead.
Speaking of which, is there a way to make it so a Shortcut to FireFox doesn't have an arrow on it? Other than TweakUI?

Maybe they want to claim a more secure internet browser in their commercials.

If Dell really had balls, they'd stop putting F'ING NORTON INTERNET SECURITY ON THEIR COMPUTERS. Working in internet tech support for the local cable company, I get more calls where norton has hosed the system than anything else. I CURSE YOU DELL!

It's good to hear them doing that. Exposing people to IE alternatives is a great thing.

They don't have to do any of those: XP does it for them. For some reason, a fresh XP install doesn't show the Internet Explorer icon on the desktop (or My Computer, or My Documents, or anything else useful... ). Subsequently, there's no need to hide or move IE at all: Firefox will be on the desktop, and IE will not be. Which do you think people will end up using most? (Hint: most computer users are mildly retarded.)
As for deleting Internet Explorer... nope, can't be done. Trust me, I've tried. It's integrated so deeply into the OS that there's almost no way to remove it. I suppose it can be done (at least it was done for 98: Wikipedia knows all), but not for free by the average user.
In short: Yay 4 Dell!

TheoCryst is correct. It's almost impossible to remove IE from Windows. The best way to get people to use Firefox would be to use the IE icon for it on the desktop. That may get some people at Microsoft a little pissed off though.

NORTON!!
I thought Dell loading their computers with McAfee over here in the UK was bad enough but Norton is even worse.
The last time I had Norton, all I ever got were big red boxes telling me I had viruses. It didn't actually do anything to get rid of them.
I don't know why people use McAfee or Norton when you can use AVG anyway, it's free and it actually works.

Or, gasp, have laptops with Linux installed. I think they have desktops that are blank, not too sure about laptops.
